The 2024 Ford F-150 Lightning is set to introduce some exciting new features and options to its lineup. One of the notable updates is the inclusion of a heat pump as a standard feature across all models. This addition is aimed at optimizing the performance of the vehicle’s battery, particularly in colder temperatures, which tend to reduce the range of electric vehicles. The heat pump not only helps maintain the battery’s optimal temperature during charging but also ensures its efficiency in varying weather conditions.
Another significant addition to the F-150 Lightning range is the introduction of a new mid-range option called the Flash grade. This new grade, which was teased through a trademark filing in July, brings together some of the popular technology options that were previously exclusive to the upmarket Lariat and Platinum grades. Priced from $72,090, the Flash grade offers the extended-range battery as standard, providing a longer driving range. It also comes equipped with a 15.5-inch infotainment screen, wireless phone charger, B&O audio system, powered tailgate, and a tailgate step, all included in the base price. Additionally, customers have the option to add Ford’s BlueCruise automated driver-assist feature at an extra cost.
The Flash grade also comes with the F-150 Lightning’s Tow Technology Package as standard. This package includes electronic aids such as Pro Trailer Backup Assist, Trailer Brake Controller, Smart Hitch, On-Board Scales, Smart Trailer Tow Connection, and Trailer Reverse Guidance. These features enhance the towing capabilities of the F-150 Lightning, making it easier and safer for drivers to tow heavy loads.
While an official EPA range estimate for the 2024 F-150 Lightning Flash has not been released, Ford has stated that owners can expect a range of around 320 miles. This impressive range is made possible by the vehicle’s dual-motor powertrain, which is rated at 580 horsepower for models equipped with the extended-range battery. Trucks with the standard battery also feature a dual-motor powertrain, albeit with a slightly lower rating of 452 horsepower.
The 2024 F-150 Lightning Flash, along with the rest of the 2024 F-150 Lightning range, will be available for ordering in early 2024. In addition to the Flash grade, customers have a variety of other grades to choose from, each offering its own set of features and options. The lineup includes the Pro grade priced at $52,090, XLT grade priced at $59,590, Lariat grade priced at $79,590, Platinum grade priced at $92,090, and Platinum Black grade priced at $100,090. It is worth noting that all prices mentioned include a $2,095 destination charge, which represents a $100 increase from the previous year.
The 2024 Ford F-150 Lightning continues to impress with its electric powertrain, advanced features, and versatile options. With the addition of the standard heat pump and the introduction of the Flash grade, Ford aims to provide customers with a more optimized driving experience and a wider range of choices to suit their needs and preferences. Whether it’s for towing heavy loads or enjoying the latest technology, the F-150 Lightning remains at the forefront of electric truck innovation.
