The Honda Ridgeline has undergone a round of updates for the 2024 model year, and one of the exciting changes is the addition of a TrailSport grade. This marks the second round of updates for the current generation of Honda’s midsize pickup truck, which first arrived in 2017 and received its first update in 2021.
The 2024 Ridgeline was revealed on Monday and will be available for sale starting this winter. In addition to the TrailSport grade, the Ridgeline also brings revised styling and technology updates to the cabin.
While the Ridgeline features a car-like unibody design rather than a body-on-frame design like most pickups on the market, the TrailSport grade has been equipped with some key upgrades to enhance its off-road usability. These upgrades include suspension tuning for improved articulation, 18-inch wheels with all-terrain tires, and steel underbody protection. Some of these upgrades are also shared with the 2024 Passport TrailSport, which is a related model in Honda’s lineup.
The Ridgeline’s standard all-wheel-drive system is capable of controlling the torque distribution between the front and rear axles, as well as between the rear wheels. It also comes with a drive mode selector that offers modes for different terrains such as sand, snow, mud, and paved roads.
In terms of styling, the 2024 Ridgeline features subtle tweaks, with one notable change being the pickup’s name stamped on the tailgate. The tailgate itself remains versatile, offering the option to fold flat or open to the side like a conventional door.
The TrailSport grade of the Ridgeline receives unique styling touches, including a more rugged grille design and black and gray accents. It also sports model-specific five-spoke wheels and is available in a distinct exterior paint finish called Diffused Sky Blue. Inside the cabin, buyers will find orange contrast stitching and TrailSport logos.
All 2024 Ridgelines will come equipped with a 7.0-inch digital gauge cluster and a larger 9.0-inch infotainment system as standard. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity are also standard, and the center console has been redesigned to incorporate a wireless phone charger. The Ridgeline will also feature a range of electric driver-assist features, such as forward collision warning, active lane control, adaptive cruise control, and a rear seat reminder.
While Honda has not yet provided details on the 2024 Ridgeline’s powertrain, the automaker did confirm that it will have a payload capacity of 1,583 pounds and a towing capacity of up to 5,000 pounds. These figures remain the same as those for the current 2023 model, which is powered by a 3.5-liter V6 engine producing 280 horsepower and mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission.
Production of the Ridgeline takes place at Honda’s plant in Lincoln, Alabama. Pricing information for the 2024 Ridgeline will be announced closer to its market launch.
With its updates for the 2024 model year, the Honda Ridgeline is poised to offer consumers a versatile and capable midsize pickup truck. The addition of the TrailSport grade enhances its off-road capabilities, while the revisions to styling and technology further elevate its appeal. Whether tackling rugged terrains or providing a comfortable and connected driving experience, the 2024 Ridgeline aims to meet the needs of modern truck enthusiasts.
