The 2024 Lexus LS has received an upgrade in its tech features compared to the previous model year. Lexus made significant updates to the infotainment system of its flagship sedan for the 2023 model, including the addition of voice control and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The 12.3-inch infotainment screen no longer includes the Remote Touch Interface trackpad. Building on these improvements, the 2024 LS 500 now comes with a standard 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, head-up display, and digital key connectivity. Additionally, both the LS 500 and the LS 500h hybrid models are equipped with standard wireless phone charging.
In terms of safety features, the LS 500 models now come standard with Lexus Safety System+ 3.0. This comprehensive system includes electronic driver-assist features such as forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, and traffic sign recognition. What sets it apart is the addition of Proactive Driving Assist. This feature assists the driver by applying steering and braking inputs to help maintain a safe distance from surrounding vehicles. The LS 500 also includes an emergency stop feature that will automatically slow the car to a stop if the driver appears incapacitated.
On the other hand, the LS 500h models come standard with the previous Lexus Safety System+ 2.5 driver aids. However, they have the option to upgrade to the Lexus Teammate hands-free driver assist system, which was introduced in the 2022 model year. The Lexus Teammate system can manage acceleration, steering, and braking in single-lane highway driving, execute lane changes, and navigate certain interchanges and traffic jams. It does, however, require the driver to monitor the vehicle at all times.
The exterior design of the 2024 LS remains largely unchanged from the previous model year. Introduced in 2018, the current-generation LS has maintained its distinctive styling and luxurious appeal. The only notable change for the 2024 model is the addition of a new color option called Silver Illusion.
Under the hood, the powertrain options for the 2024 LS remain the same. The LS 500 is equipped with a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 engine, producing an impressive 416 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque. It comes with a 10-speed automatic transmission and offers a choice between rear-wheel drive or optional all-wheel drive. The LS 500 can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.6 seconds, according to Lexus estimates.
Meanwhile, the LS 500h combines a naturally-aspirated 3.5-liter V6 engine with a hybrid system. This combination results in a total system output of 354 horsepower. The LS 500h comes standard with all-wheel drive and has an estimated 0-60 mph time of 5.2 seconds.
The 2024 Lexus LS is expected to arrive at dealerships later this year. Pricing for the base rear-wheel drive LS 500 starts at $80,685, including a $1,350 destination charge. This reflects a $3,150 increase compared to the 2023 model year, including a $200 hike in the destination charge. The LS 500h starts at $115,560.
The 2024 Lexus LS represents a significant upgrade in terms of tech features and safety enhancements. With its improved infotainment system, advanced driver-assist features, and luxurious interior, the LS continues to be a flagship sedan that offers both comfort and innovation. Whether it’s the LS 500 with its powerful performance or the LS 500h with its hybrid efficiency, the 2024 Lexus LS is poised to deliver a premium driving experience for discerning customers.
