Toyota has announced that the popular GR Corolla Circuit Edition will continue for the 2024 model year. The GR Corolla made its debut in 2023, with production limited to just 1,500 units for the U.S. However, due to high demand, Toyota has decided to extend the availability of the Circuit Edition for another year.
The Circuit Edition sits between the base GR Corolla Core grade and the hardcore Morizo Edition. The Morizo Edition, named after outgoing CEO Akio Toyoda, is expected to be discontinued as it was a limited-edition grade.
Toyota recently revealed the changes that will be made to the 2024 GR Corolla Circuit Edition. While the changes are relatively minor, they are still significant. Firstly, a new exterior color option called Blue Flame will be introduced. Additionally, the previous model’s forged aluminum 18-inch BBS wheels, which were only available in the Morizo Edition, will now be standard for the Circuit Edition.
The blue theme continues inside the car, with blue accents added to the suede-and-leatherette seats, a blue-trimmed shift knob, and blue accent stitching. Another notable addition is the inclusion of an eight-speaker JBL audio system as standard.
In terms of performance, Toyota made some slight enhancements to the 2024 Circuit Edition. Engineers made changes to the shape of the front air duct and added aluminum sheets to the front and rear bumpers to improve aerodynamic performance. Furthermore, various materials used in the steering gear, rear suspension, and battery ground were also modified.
While these updates improve the overall performance and aesthetics of the GR Corolla Circuit Edition, Toyota has decided to retain the same powertrain as the previous model. The G16E-GTS 1.6-liter turbo-3 engine still delivers a powerful 300 horsepower and 273 lb-ft of torque. It is paired with a 6-speed manual transmission and features all-wheel drive.
Toyota has not confirmed whether the production of the GR Corolla Circuit Edition will be limited to a specific number for the 2024 model year. However, the company did mention that production will be increased and there is a possibility of extending the Circuit Edition’s availability into the 2025 model year if the demand remains strong.
The GR Corolla’s availability has been met with enthusiasm from car enthusiasts, with the model being named a Motor Authority Best Car To Buy finalist in 2023. The continuation of this exciting car is certainly good news for those looking for a thrilling and stylish hot hatchback.
The 2024 Toyota GR Corolla Circuit Edition is expected to arrive in U.S. showrooms during the winter season. The pricing for the model will be announced at a later date. Car enthusiasts eagerly await the opportunity to get their hands on this limited-edition hot hatchback and experience the exhilaration it offers on the road.
