Recently, at the premiere of the film, Boyega and Parris arrived in a convertible and gave an update on their missing co-star, Jamie Foxx. Foxx has been recovering from a medical complication he experienced earlier this year. Boyega shared that he recently spoke to Foxx, and he assured him that he is doing well. Parris added that she heard Foxx was doing really well and she’s happy he’s taking the time he needs to heal.
In April, Foxx’s daughter announced that the actor had experienced a medical complication but was already on his way to recovery. Since then, Foxx has not made a public appearance or spoken directly about his health. Although he couldn’t attend the premiere, those involved with the film spoke highly of Foxx and shared their favorite on-set memories. They described Foxx as a phenomenal actor, a great friend, and someone who provided guidance throughout the filming process.
“They Cloned Tyrone” is set in an ambiguous time period and is described as a fantasy mystery thriller with comedic relief and blaxploitation references. Blaxploitation is a genre of African American movies that tackle difficult topics such as drug use, violence, and Black empowerment. Parris highlighted that her character, who takes the lead on the mysterious case, embodies the theme of Black women coming through and saving the day.
