Infiniti, the luxury vehicle brand, is currently undergoing a major revamp with new store designs and a lineup of new products. The company recently shared its plans with U.S. dealers during a meeting held in Beverly Hills. Some of the highlights from the meeting include the introduction of a redesigned QX80, a new QX65, and two electric vehicles.
According to reports, the revamped QX80 is expected to arrive next summer with a price tag of over $100,000. It will be equipped with a turbocharged V-6 engine producing 450 horsepower. The current Q80 starts at $74,395 and is powered by a 400-horsepower V-8. To justify the increased starting price and differentiate the QX80 from other models in its lineup, Infiniti plans to add more content and technology to the SUV. This includes features like active air suspension, a 24-inch display for a digital instrument cluster and infotainment screen, as well as the latest connectivity and electronic driver-assist systems.
The redesigned QX80 will be followed by the introduction of the QX65 in mid-2025. The QX65 is a two-row SUV that will have a coupe-like design and will be based on the mid-size QX60. It will essentially be a larger version of the QX55, which is the coupe-like version of the compact QX50.
In addition to these new SUVs, Infiniti also plans to launch two electric vehicles. The first EV is expected to debut in late 2026 and will fill the space of the Q70 sedan. It will have proportions and design similar to the Tesla Model S. The second EV is scheduled to arrive in mid-2027 and will be a crossover model. Both electric vehicles were teased by Infiniti in 2021 and are planned for production at Nissan’s plant in Canton, Mississippi.
Infiniti’s aim with these updates is to boost sales and regain its position in the luxury vehicle market. In 2022, the brand’s U.S. sales reached their lowest point since 1992, with only 46,619 units sold. To achieve its goal of doubling annual sales to around 100,000 units later this decade, Infiniti is not just focusing on product updates but also introducing a more modern design for its retail outlets. Additionally, the brand’s logo used on vehicle front grilles will be given a three-dimensional look to serve as a focal point, reflecting a sense of motion and dynamism.
The new store designs will create a more immersive and luxurious buying experience for customers, aligning with the brand’s positioning as a premium luxury vehicle manufacturer. The interior of these stores will likely feature contemporary design elements, cutting-edge technology displays, and comfortable lounges for customers to relax and explore the brand’s offerings.
