Hello everyone,
We have some important updates from headquarters regarding the ROG Ally that we would like to share with you.
Firstly, there have been concerns about a performance drop in the first week after the device’s launch. We have conducted extensive tests to investigate this issue. After installing the latest BIOS 319 and the latest AMD graphics drivers 31.0.14058.4001 (which can be downloaded in MyASUS), we found that the performance is on par with the launch BIOS version 317. To provide transparency, we have included the results of our testing below:
– Cyberpunk 2077 Benchmark (1080p Medium, FSR Auto):
– BIOS 317: 38.44 FPS
– BIOS 319: 39.95 FPS
We encourage you to replicate these benchmarks on your own system with the same games and settings to validate the results. If you experience significantly different results even after updating your system, please reach out to our customer support at asus.com for assistance. It is important to note that these results were obtained with the Ally in Turbo mode, unplugged, and with VRAM set to the default 4G. We will be adding more validated game testing to this list in the near future, so you will have more examples to compare with your own device.
Secondly, we are aware of reports regarding the joystick deadzones. We understand that this is a significant concern for many users, and we are actively investigating it. Please bear in mind that there are multiple variables that contribute to the deadzone, such as the specific game being played, the launcher and its controller layer, and Armoury Crate SE. Each of these factors can impact the deadzone, and we want to ensure that we address this issue thoroughly. We will provide updates as soon as we have more information on this matter.
Lastly, we are currently testing concerns related to the microSD card reader. If your Ally’s microSD card reader is failing to read any microSD cards or if you believe there is a malfunction with the reader, we recommend that you RMA your device. You can initiate the RMA process by visiting our support page at [link for US] or [link for UK]. We take user reports seriously, and we would like to gather more data to investigate this issue further. When requesting an RMA, please provide as much detail as possible about the conditions that led to the problem, including the operating mode, model of microSD card used, and the actions performed with the microSD card at the time. This information will be invaluable in our testing to identify any potential issues.
As a precaution, we will be releasing an update that boosts the device’s fan speeds. Adequate cooling helps mitigate component stress, which can sometimes cause issues. In the meantime, you have the option to create your own manual fan curve in Armoury Crate SE.
We want to assure you that we hear your concerns and we are actively working to address them. It is important to note that resolving these issues takes time, as we want to be precise in our diagnosis. Rest assured, we are committed to getting to the bottom of all your concerns.
Thank you for your continued support and patience as we work towards providing the best possible experience with the ROG Ally. If you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.
