The 2024 Lexus ES remains largely unchanged from the previous year, with the exception of a new Technology Package and updated wheel options. The Technology Package is available on the base, Luxury, F Sport Design, and F Sport Handling grades, and includes a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen, which was introduced for the 2023 model year. The base models come standard with an 8.0-inch touchscreen. In addition to the larger touchscreen, the Technology Package also includes a head-up display and a Smart Access Card Key, which functions as a key fob in a more convenient credit-card-like shape.
The larger touchscreen runs the Lexus Interface infotainment system, which offers various features such as wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity, integration with Apple Music and Amazon Music, cloud-based navigation, and over-the-air (OTA) updates. This system allows for seamless connectivity and access to entertainment and navigation options.
Another update for the 2024 ES is the availability of five-spoke 18-inch alloy wheels with a Vapor Chrome finish on the Luxury grade, while the Ultra Luxury grade comes standard with these wheels. The base models are equipped with 17-inch wheels, and F Sport models receive 19-inch wheels. The F Sport grade is divided into two packages: the Design package and the Handling package. The Handling package includes adaptive dampers to enhance the vehicle’s handling capabilities.
In terms of powertrain options, the 2024 ES retains the same lineup as the previous year. The front-wheel-drive ES 350 is powered by a 3.5-liter V-6 engine that produces 302 horsepower and 267 lb-ft of torque, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The ES 300h hybrid, also available only with front-wheel drive, features a 2.5-liter inline-4 engine combined with Lexus’ hybrid system, resulting in a total system output of 215 horsepower and 163 lb-ft of torque.
For those who prefer all-wheel drive, the ES 250 is equipped with a 2.5-liter inline-4 engine without hybrid assist, delivering 203 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. It is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission, similar to the V-6 engine. However, the added traction of the all-wheel drive system results in a slightly slower estimated 0-60 mph time of 8.6 seconds compared to 6.6 seconds for the ES 350 and 8.1 seconds for the ES 300h.
The Lexus Safety System 2.5+ group of driver aids, which includes features like adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, active lane control, and traffic sign recognition, carries over from the previous year. These advanced safety technologies enhance the overall safety and convenience of the vehicle.
The ES was last redesigned for the 2019 model year and shares the same TNGA-K platform and powertrains with the Toyota Camry. This platform provides a solid foundation for the ES, offering a comfortable and refined driving experience.
Pricing for the 2024 Lexus ES starts at $44,340 for the front-wheel-drive V-6 ES 350. The all-wheel-drive 4-cylinder ES 250 is priced at the same level, while the ES 300h hybrid starts at $45,740. These prices include a $1,150 destination charge.
The 2024 Lexus ES is expected to arrive at U.S. dealerships later this summer, offering customers a luxurious and technologically advanced sedan with various options to suit their preferences and needs.
