Pininfarina, the renowned Italian design house and automaker, will be making a splash at the 2023 Goodwood Festival of Speed with the unveiling of the limited-edition Battista Edizione Nino Farina. This special version of the company’s electric hypercar pays tribute to the automotive brand’s fifth anniversary and honors the legendary Giuseppe “Nino” Farina, the nephew of Pininfarina founder Battista Farina and the first Formula 1 World Champion.
Limited to just five units, each of the Battista Edizione Nino Farina cars will feature a unique aluminum door plate that highlights a significant moment from Nino Farina’s life. These moments include his birthdate and birthplace in Turin in 1906, his first Formula 1 pole and win at the 1950 British Grand Prix, his second win at the Swiss Grand Prix, his third and final victory at the Italian Grand Prix, and his achievement of the 1950 F1 title, solidifying his status as a motorsport icon.
In terms of design, all five Battista Edizione Nino Farina hypercars will sport a distinctive exterior with a color scheme that pays homage to the Italian flag, featuring red, white, and blue for the body, and gold accents on the wheels. Additionally, the cars will have contrasting colors for the driver and passenger seats, further enhancing the exclusivity and customization of each vehicle.
Underneath its stunning exterior, the Battista Edizione Nino Farina retains the powertrain of the original Battista, reaffirming its performance-oriented nature. The electric hypercar is equipped with four electric motors and a powerful 120-kWh T-shaped battery. This impressive setup generates a staggering peak output of 1,874 horsepower, which allows for mind-blowing acceleration figures. The Battista Edizione Nino Farina can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in a mere 1.79 seconds, making it one of the fastest production cars in the world. It also holds the record for the quarter-mile time, clocking in at just 8.55 seconds. With a motor dedicated to each wheel, the Battista Edizione Nino Farina offers precise torque vectoring, maximizing its handling and overall performance.
This limited-edition model follows the success of the Battista Anniversario, another special version of the electric hypercar unveiled in 2020 to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the Pininfarina design studio. Just like the Battista Edizione Nino Farina, the Anniversario edition was also limited to just five units, showcasing Pininfarina’s commitment to rare and exclusive automobiles.
While the Battista Edizione Nino Farina continues to push the boundaries of performance and design, Pininfarina has broader plans for the future. The company is actively working on the development of other vehicles with higher production volumes than the limited-edition Battista models. One of the highly anticipated projects is an SUV, which was previewed to potential customers a few years ago with the Pura Vision concept car. Although specifics are still under wraps, Pininfarina has projected an impressive 1,000 horsepower output for this upcoming electric SUV.
Pininfarina’s presence at the 2023 Goodwood Festival of Speed with the Battista Edizione Nino Farina serves as a testament to the brand’s commitment to innovation, craftsmanship, and rich automotive heritage. As automotive enthusiasts and industry insiders gather at this renowned event, they will witness the blending of groundbreaking electric technology and iconic design, as Pininfarina continues to revolutionize the world of high-performance electric vehicles.
