At the Goodwood Festival of Speed, rally driver Ott Tänak had the honor of driving the Mustang Mach-E Rally prototype up Goodwood’s famous hill climb course. Tänak, who currently competes in the World Rally Championship with a rally car based on the Ford Puma subcompact crossover, was impressed by the performance of the Mustang Mach-E Rally.
While Ford is keeping specific details about the Mustang Mach-E Rally under wraps until closer to the market launch, the company did mention that the vehicle draws inspiration from rally cars that compete in rallycross events. Rallycross is a form of closed mixed-surface racing that features thrilling jumps and intense competition. Ford has a strong presence in rallycross competition, often using rally cars based on the Fiesta subcompact hatch.
Based on the prototype, it is clear that the Mustang Mach-E Rally will feature unique design elements. These include a distinctive front fascia, special wheels, and an aerodynamic package that consists of a front splitter and an oversized roof spoiler. The prototype also showcased driving lights mounted to the grille panel and sports seats in the cabin.
