Porsche has unveiled a limited edition version of the 911 S/T, known as the 2024 911 S/T, in honor of the 60th anniversary of the launch of the first 911 model. This special edition car is part of Porsche’s Heritage Design series and draws inspiration from the 1971 911 2.5 S/T track car. The original 2.5 S/T was a lightweight, track-focused model designed for customer racing, and the modern version follows in its footsteps.
Limited to just 1,963 units, a reference to the year the 911 was launched, the 2024 911 S/T will be available for purchase worldwide. The first deliveries are expected to begin in the United States in the spring of next year, with a starting price of $291,650, including a $1,650 destination charge.
Under the hood, the 2024 911 S/T is powered by a 4.0-liter flat-six engine, which is also used in the 911 GT3 RS. It shares the GT3 RS’ peak output of 518 horsepower. However, unlike the GT3 RS, which features a dual-clutch automatic transmission, the S/T comes with a 6-speed manual transmission. The manual gearbox has shorter gear ratios and a lightweight clutch, enhancing the car’s performance. The 2024 911 S/T can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.5 seconds and has a top speed of 186 mph.
To further optimize performance, the 2024 911 S/T benefits from a range of weight-saving modifications, making it the lightest model in the 992 911 family. Carbon-fiber reinforced plastic is used for the hood, roof, front fenders, doors, rear axle anti-roll bar, and shear panel. Additionally, magnesium wheels are employed, with 20 inches at the front and 21 inches at the rear. The car also features carbon-ceramic rotors for the brakes and a lighter lithium-ion battery. Furthermore, insulation and the rear-wheel-steering system have been removed to shed additional weight.
Visually, the 2024 911 S/T bears a resemblance to the 911 GT3 Touring model, with subtle design elements that distinguish it as the S/T version. The extending rear spoiler incorporates a Gurney flap, and Porsche offers exclusive paint options for the S/T, including Shore Blue Metallic and Ceramica for the wheels. Buyers also have the option to add a Heritage Design Package, which includes a racing number and a classic-style Porsche crest logo.
In addition to the car, Porsche is offering a special Porsche Design watch called the Chronograph 1 – 911 S/T. This watch features a titanium case that is uncoated and blasted to reduce weight, aligning with the lightweight ethos of the car that inspired it. It will be available exclusively to buyers of the 2024 911 S/T, priced at $13,500.
The 2024 911 S/T joins other models in Porsche’s Heritage Design series, including the 911 Targa 4S Heritage Design launched in 2020, and the 911 Sport Classic and 911 GT3 RS Tribute to Carrera RS introduced in previous years. These Heritage Design models pay tribute to Porsche’s iconic past while incorporating modern performance and technology.
Overall, the 2024 911 S/T limited edition is a celebration of the legacy of the first 911 and showcases Porsche’s commitment to honoring its heritage while pushing the boundaries of performance and design in its modern lineup. With limited availability and a unique blend of retro-inspired styling and cutting-edge features, the 2024 911 S/T is a standout model for Porsche enthusiasts and collectors alike.
