Electric vehicle startup Fisker recently hosted its inaugural Product Vision Day in California, where it revealed prototypes for three forthcoming models and introduced an off-road package for its existing Ocean compact crossover. The company is seeking to expand its footprint in the electric vehicle market by offering a diverse range of vehicles to suit different lifestyles and preferences.
Among the future models showcased at the event were the Pear urban runabout, the Alaska lifestyle pickup truck, and the Ronin four-door convertible. Fisker has already begun accepting reservations for these models, demonstrating its commitment to bringing them to market. CEO and founder Henrik Fisker emphasized the company’s ambitious plans to enter multiple market segments, signaling its determination to make a significant impact in the EV industry.
The Pear is set to be the first of these models to launch, with Fisker targeting a market release in mid-2025. Priced at $29,900, the Pear aims to be one of the most affordable EVs available. Its compact size, measuring approximately 177 inches in length, makes it a practical option for urban environments. The Pear can seat six passengers and features a unique hidden tailgate, known as the Houdini Trunk. With a targeted maximum range of about 300 miles, Fisker aims to offer both affordability and convenience to electric vehicle buyers.
Production of the Pear will be outsourced to Foxconn, a Taiwanese contract manufacturer renowned for building iPhones for Apple. The Pear will be produced at a former General Motors plant in Lordstown, Ohio, which Foxconn acquired from struggling EV startup Lordstown Motors. Fisker will collaborate with Foxconn on the development of the SLV1 platform, which will be utilized in the production of the Pear.
The Alaska, another upcoming model from Fisker, is a compact pickup truck based on the same platform as the Ocean. Developed in partnership with Austrian independent contract manufacturer Magna Steyr, the FT31 platform ensures the Alaska will benefit from high-quality engineering. Fisker aims to make the Alaska the world’s lightest electric truck, offering a modular bed that extends up to 9.2 feet. With a targeted range of up to 340 miles, the Alaska aims to be a versatile and efficient option for those in need of a pickup truck.
The Ronin, the third model revealed by Fisker, is a convertible with supercar performance capabilities. Equipped with a three-motor powertrain generating over 1,000 hp, the Ronin promises exhilarating acceleration with a 0-60 mph time of around two seconds. Fisker aims to provide a luxury driving experience with the Ronin, featuring a retractable hardtop made from carbon fiber and butterfly doors for easy access. The vehicle is projected to offer a range of over 600 miles, ensuring drivers can enjoy an extended journey without interruption.
In addition to the three future models, Fisker also introduced the Force E package for the Ocean compact crossover. Designed for the Ultra and Extreme grades, the package adds off-road capabilities to the Ocean, making it suitable for adventure enthusiasts. Features such as raised suspension, underbody protection, and 33-inch off-road tires enhance the Ocean’s versatility, allowing it to navigate challenging terrains comfortably.
Fisker’s Product Vision Day showcased the company’s commitment to innovation and expansion in the electric vehicle market. By offering a range of models designed for different lifestyles and purposes, Fisker aims to appeal to a broad customer base. With affordable options like the Pear, versatile choices like the Alaska, and high-performance offerings like the Ronin, Fisker hopes to establish itself as a prominent player in the EV industry. As the reservation process for these models has already begun, it is clear that Fisker is determined to turn its ambitious vision into reality.
