Lesli Linka Glatter has been re-elected for a second term as the president of the Directors Guild of America. The announcement was made at the guild’s National Biennial Convention held at the DGA Theater in Los Angeles, where 164 delegates representing over 19,500 DGA members also elected new officers and national board members.
In a statement, Glatter expressed her honor in accepting the responsibility of serving as President of the Directors Guild of America once again. She emphasized the critical time for the industry and her commitment to the Guild’s mission of protecting the creative and economic rights of its members. Glatter pledged to work collaboratively, both internally and externally, to address the issues affecting the industry.
As the new chapter for the Guild commences, Glatter expressed her excitement at working alongside a talented, creative, and diverse Board. She acknowledged the voluntary efforts of the Board members in advocating for their fellow members and their part in building an industry where everyone can thrive. Glatter highlighted the power that comes from unity and stated that the Guild is now stronger and more united than ever before. Together with SAG-AFTRA and the Writers Guild of America, the Directors Guild of America will continue the shared fight for an industry where every individual’s work is fairly valued and celebrated.
Lesli Linka Glatter, known for her work on projects like Homeland, Love & Death, and Mad Men, was first elected as the guild’s president in 2021. She has been part of the national board since 2003 and previously held positions such as first vice-president, fifth vice-president, and member of three past negotiating committees. Recently, Glatter played a vital role in reaching a new deal with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers as a member of the DGA’s 2023 negotiating committee.
Glatter’s re-election comes at a challenging time for Hollywood, as the Writers Guild and SAG-AFTRA are currently on strike after their contract negotiations with the AMPTP failed. However, in June, 87 percent of DGA members ratified their agreement, which union negotiators had struck with studios and streamers earlier that month.
In addition to Glatter, Laura Belsey was elected national vice president, and Paris Barclay was re-elected secretary-treasurer. The full list of elected officers and national board members for 2023-2025 can be found on the DGA’s official website.
Glatter’s re-election signifies the trust and confidence placed in her leadership by the members of the Directors Guild of America. With her experience, dedication, and commitment to the Guild’s mission, Glatter will continue to navigate the challenges and advocate for the rights and recognition of its members in the ever-evolving entertainment industry.
