Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg have once again brought up the idea of a cage match between themselves, with the event live-streamed on Musk’s social media platform, X. Musk stated on Twitter that the fight would be for charity, although he did not specify which charity the proceeds would go to for veterans.
Musk also shared his preparations for the potential fight, revealing that he lifts weights throughout the day since he doesn’t have time to work out. Zuckerberg, on the other hand, responded to Musk’s challenge on his Instagram story, questioning the reliability of Musk’s platform and suggesting they use a more trustworthy platform to raise money for charity.
The exchange between the two billionaires continued, with Zuckerberg posting a screenshot of Musk’s weightlifting post and expressing his readiness for the fight. He mentioned that he had suggested August 26 as the date for the fight when Musk first challenged him, but Musk has not confirmed. Zuckerberg seemed skeptical that the fight would ever happen, saying he is not holding his breath.
When questioned on X about the purpose of the fight, Musk referred to it as a “civilized form of war,” suggesting that men love war. He also speculated on the potential outcome, stating that if the fight is short, he would probably win, but if it is long, Zuckerberg might win due to endurance. Musk emphasized the size difference between them and the reason for weight divisions in MMA.
The idea of a cage match originated in June when Musk responded to the news of Zuckerberg planning to launch Threads, a Twitter rival. Musk declared his willingness to participate in a cage match if Zuckerberg was up for it. Since then, Threads has been launched, and Musk changed the name of Twitter to X.
While Musk has been focusing on weightlifting, Zuckerberg has been training in jiu-jitsu and even competed in his first tournament in May, winning gold and silver medals. The difference in their training backgrounds adds another layer of intrigue to the potential fight.
If the cage match between the two tech giants does happen, and if it is indeed live-streamed on X, it would not be the platform’s first event aimed at a wide audience. In May, X live-streamed Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ announcement of his presidential run during a Twitter Spaces kickoff event. However, the live stream was marred by glitches, falling short of the “10 million” viewers predicted by DeSantis.
The ongoing exchange between Musk and Zuckerberg regarding the cage match has gained attention, sparking curiosity about the possibility of the fight becoming a reality. For now, fans and followers will have to wait and see if the two billionaires will step into the cage and settle their differences in a public spectacle.
