August 15, 2023 — moveID, a Bosch-led project within the Gaia-X 4 Future Mobility project family, is set to unveil its live demo at the IAA MOBILITY 2023. This demonstration aims to showcase the potential of decentralized technologies and their integration with the MOBIX app for peer-to-peer parking and charging. By incorporating Self-Sovereign Identities (SSIs) and autonomous transactions, moveID aims to unlock new business opportunities and streamline expenses in the mobility industry.
Connected vehicles and infrastructure play a crucial role in building smart cities. However, trusted identification of parties, especially in Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) communication, remains a challenge. The moveID project utilizes SSIs and blockchain technology as a digital backbone to enable autonomous transactions between vehicles, traffic infrastructure, and service providers. This approach allows for the efficient and secure transacting of value between connected entities.
At the IAA MOBILITY 2023 in Munich, moveID will demonstrate the business and impact potential of using SSIs issued to vehicles and service providers. Visitors will have the opportunity to experience the process of finding, reserving, and using parking lots and EV charging points in a peer-to-peer fashion. The decentralized tools behind the scenes ensure a convenient and privacy-preserving experience as vehicles use their own digital wallets for payments.
Several key participants contribute to the moveID demonstration. Bosch, as the project lead, provides organizational and coordination support, as well as a specialized hardware-equipped electric Jaguar for V2X communications and self-sovereign identity. Datarella offers its public MOBIX app as the user interface and leverages Fetch.ai’s AI agents for smart interoperability. deltaDAO AG implements secure data sharing and analytics using the Gaia-X 4 Future Mobility moveID decentralized data marketplace powered by Ocean Protocol. DENSO provides organizational, technical support, and sponsors the Alfen Eve Double Pro-line charging station.
Fetch.ai brings its autonomous AI agent framework to power the interactions between connected devices, facilitating an optimal SSI-based charging and parking experience. The Saarland University of Applied Sciences supports moveID’s R&D efforts and sponsors hardware, including a Tesla Model X. peaq provides self-sovereign peaq IDs and a decentralized application for peer-to-peer vehicle charging, integrating with the MOBIX app. 51nodes handles the implementation of Self-Sovereign Identities and verifiable credentials exchange among vehicles and service providers.
Notably, the moveID demonstration at IAA MOBILITY focuses on the mobility industry but has the potential for broader implementation across various sectors, such as power grid interplay and supply chain management. The project invites stakeholders in the EV charging ecosystem to participate and contribute to the overall charging network.
Through the live demo, moveID intends to showcase the vision behind Gaia-X 4 moveID and provide tangible evidence of the feasibility and potential of its underlying technologies. By integrating decentralized technologies, SSIs, and autonomous transactions, moveID aims to drive innovation in the mobility industry and unlock new revenue streams while ensuring privacy and security for all stakeholders.
