Boat Rocker, the producer of the hit series “Orphan Black: Echoes,” has announced Todd Lubin as the new president of Boat Rocker Studios, Unscripted. Lubin will be responsible for overseeing the studio’s unscripted series and documentaries, including production arms Matador Content, Maven, and Proper Television.
Lubin’s appointment comes as Jay Peterson, co-founder of Matador Content, decides to step down from his position. Peterson will remain with Boat Rocker as an executive producer for a few months before leaving the company. Lubin and Peterson co-founded Matador Content in 2013, and their successful projects include “Lip Sync Battle” for Paramount+, “Pretty Baby: Brooke Shields” for Hulu, “Downey’s Dream Cars” for Max, and “Billie Eilish: The World’s a Little Blurry” on Apple TV+.
Boat Rocker expressed its gratitude to Peterson for his contributions and wished him well in his future endeavors. David Fortier and Ivan Schneeberg, co-executive chairmen of parent company Boat Rocker Media, stated that they hope to collaborate with Peterson again in the future.
Based in Los Angeles, Todd Lubin will report directly to Fortier and Schneeberg. While overseeing the unscripted division, Lubin will also continue working on the highly anticipated “Orphan Black: Echoes.” This series, a reboot of the popular “Orphan Black” franchise, will feature new characters within the same world. The show is set to star Krysten Ritter, known for her roles in “Breaking Bad” and “Jessica Jones.” The launch date for “Orphan Black: Echoes” is yet to be announced by AMC Networks.
“Orphan Black: Echoes” is created by writer and showrunner Anna Fishko, known for her work on “Pieces of Her.” The series is produced by Boat Rocker, with Temple Street Productions, the original producer of “Orphan Black,” also involved. Co-creator of “Orphan Black,” John Fawcett, is on board as an executive producer and director for the spinoff series.
Boat Rocker has been committed to creating high-quality content across various genres. With the addition of Lubin to the team, the studio hopes to expand its unscripted and documentary offerings. Lubin’s experience and industry knowledge will contribute to the development and production of engaging and captivating non-scripted projects.
