Jimmy Graham, the New Orleans Saints tight end, has encountered a setback in his NFL comeback as he was arrested on Friday night on suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance. According to law enforcement officials, Graham was seen wandering in traffic near a Southern California resort. When police attempted to arrest him, he resisted.
The 36-year-old athlete was eventually taken into custody for suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance as well as for resisting, delaying, and obstructing a police officer. Both of these charges are misdemeanors. Graham has since been released, and the incident is currently under investigation.
It is worth mentioning that the New Orleans Saints were in town for a preseason matchup against the Chargers on Sunday. Prior to the game, they had joint practices with their upcoming opponent earlier in the week at the Jack Hammett Sports Complex in Costa Mesa.
In an unrelated event, Graham commented on a video of him chatting with his former quarterback, Drew Brees, during Friday’s practice. Throughout his 12-year career, Graham has played for multiple teams including the Saints, Seattle Seahawks, Green Bay Packers, and Chicago Bears. After sitting out the 2022 season, he is set to return to the field this year. In July, he signed a one-year deal to rejoin the New Orleans Saints.
