The renowned improvisational comedy enterprise, The Second City, has recently announced plans to open a physical location in New York City this November. This expansion comes alongside the introduction of its first slate of shows and cast. The new entertainment complex will be situated at 64 N. 9th St. in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, and will encompass an impressive 12,000 square feet. The venue will consist of two cabaret-style live theaters, seven Training Center classrooms, as well as a full-service restaurant and bar, offering a complete and immersive comedic experience for attendees.
The Second City already boasts two other physical locations, with its Toronto branch having recently celebrated its 50th year, and the Chicago location gearing up for its 65th anniversary in 2024. The addition of the New York location aligns with the company’s desire to expand its content offerings onto new platforms beyond the live stage, marking an exciting new phase for the brand.

Wells also spoke of the company’s commitment to delivering their proprietary Yes, And… improv-based training, affirming their mission to nurture and promote comedic talent.
The opening lineup at the New York location will feature a diverse range of shows. The First City Revue, a production that showcases the comedic prowess of the inaugural New York-based cast, will set the stage for other holiday-themed interactive shows such as Jack Frost Roasting on an Open Fire and Improv Holiday Brunch. The ensemble of The Second City’s first-ever New York-based cast includes E.J. Cameron, Ashley Leisten, Ben Rameaka, Yazmin Ramos, Drew Reilly, and Jacklyn Uweh.
To ensure the success of these shows, The Second City has enlisted the expertise of acclaimed director Jen Ellison, who will oversee The Second City Mainstage 1 revue. Adding to the creative team are Alan Kliffer as artistic director NYC and Matt Prigge as producer. Jeff Bouthiette will serve as musical director, with Kayla Freeman as stage manager, and technical direction provided by Kurt Cruz. This talented group of individuals will work together to create an unforgettable experience for audiences.
