The Toyota GR Corolla, a hot hatch that has garnered a significant following among driving enthusiasts, is entering its second year on the market with some exciting updates. The response to the GR Corolla has been overwhelming, with its combination of a 300-hp 1.6-liter turbo-3 engine, a 6-speed manual transmission, and all-wheel drive captivating drivers. Toyota’s Vice President of Vehicle Marketing and Communications, Mike Tripp, expressed his enthusiasm for the model, saying, “This model has captured a passion for driving.”
For the 2024 model year, Toyota is introducing the new Premium grade, along with the return of the entry-level Core and the track-focused Circuit Edition grades. Unfortunately, the hardcore Morizo Edition, which was a limited edition last year, seems to be a one-time offering. The new Premium grade sits in the middle of the lineup, offering additional features and enhancements.
The Core grade of the 2024 GR Corolla comes standard with sporty seats adorned with a GR logo on the headrests. It also includes sports-tuned suspension and 18-inch alloy wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires. Upgrading to the Premium grade adds suede trim over the standard fabric, a JBL audio system, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, brake cooling ducts, and Torsen front and rear limited-slip differentials, which are also available on the Core grade.
The Circuit Edition takes the GR Corolla’s performance to the next level. It features a forged carbon roof, a hood bulge, additional vents, and a leather-wrapped shift knob. The exclusive color option, Blue Flame, is available for the Circuit Edition. It also comes with 18-inch forged aluminum wheels from BBS, similar to the ones offered on the Morizo Edition.
To enhance performance further, buyers have the option to add lowering springs and performance shocks, which are new options for 2024. A rear wing is also available for those seeking a more aggressive look.
In terms of improvements, Toyota has made some changes to the steering gear and rear suspension’s mounting bolts, as well as added aluminum sheets to the front and rear fascias to improve aerodynamic properties. Additionally, the duct shape in the front fascia has been modified.
The 2024 GR Corolla is set to arrive at dealerships later this year. The pricing starts at $37,195 for the Core grade, $41,015 for the Premium grade, and $45,835 for the Circuit Edition grade. These prices include a $1,095 destination charge. Furthermore, Toyota is offering a complimentary one-year membership to the National Auto Sport Association (NASA) with each purchase. This membership provides benefits such as discounts for NASA-sanctioned events and admission to a performance driving day.
Overall, the Toyota GR Corolla continues to impress with its combination of power, performance, and style. The new Premium grade and the track-focused Circuit Edition provide additional options for buyers looking to enhance their driving experience. With its strong reception from enthusiasts and the exciting updates for 2024, the GR Corolla is solidifying its position as a leading hot hatch in the market.
