U.K.-based Everrati is expanding its portfolio of electric vehicle (EV) conversions with the addition of the W113 Mercedes-Benz SL, also known as the Pagoda, to its lineup. Everrati, known for its electric conversions of the 964-generation Porsche 911, certain Land Rover models, and the electric Ford GT40 replica developed in partnership with Superformance, is now offering its expertise in converting the iconic Mercedes-Benz SL.
Similar to its other conversions, Everrati has developed the powertrain for the electric SL in-house. The hardware includes a 3-phase AC motor, a single-speed gearbox, and components that enable regenerative braking. With an output of 300 horsepower and 221 lb-ft of torque, the electric SL can accelerate from 0-60 mph in approximately 7.0 seconds and reach a top speed of 124 mph. Everrati claims that these performance figures are in close proximity to the stock gasoline-powered SL.
The conversion features a 68-kWh battery pack that provides an estimated range of 200 miles. Despite the addition of the battery pack, Everrati states that the weight and weight distribution of its electric conversion are comparable to that of a stock SL. This ensures that the driving experience remains faithful to the original while offering the benefits of electric power.
According to Everrati’s website, the company will collaborate with “Mercedes-Benz specialists” for the restoration of donor cars. This implies that Everrati aims to maintain the quality and authenticity of the original SL while incorporating the electric powertrain seamlessly. Additionally, Everrati asserts that the electric conversion is completely reversible, allowing owners to restore the car to its factory specifications if desired, potentially increasing the resale value of their SL.
Pricing details for the electric SL conversion have not been disclosed by Everrati. However, based on the company’s previous offerings, such as the Land Rover Defender conversion priced around $225,000 and the Range Rover conversion priced at $280,000 (excluding taxes and the cost of a donor vehicle), the EV conversions from Everrati tend to be at the higher end of the market. While many other companies also offer electric conversions of classic cars, affordable options are limited. Everrati, with its specialization in SL Pagoda EV builds, appears to be unique in the market.
The trend of converting classic cars into electric vehicles is gaining momentum, with enthusiasts and collectors seeking to combine the charm and heritage of vintage models with the benefits of modern electric drivetrains. Classic cars converted to electric power can benefit from improved performance, reduced emissions, and lower operating costs. Additionally, the ability to convert classic cars ensures their preservation and extends their lifespan, enabling a sustainable approach to automotive history.
Everrati’s expansion into the electric Mercedes-Benz SL Pagoda conversion market demonstrates the company’s commitment to offering a diverse range of electric conversions for enthusiasts. By capturing the essence of classic automobiles and adding cutting-edge electric powertrains, Everrati aims to provide a unique and sustainable driving experience for customers.
As the demand for EV conversions continues to grow, it will be interesting to see how the market evolves and what other classic models will be converted to electric power in the future. With Everrati leading the way in providing high-quality electric conversions, the options for vintage car enthusiasts seeking a greener alternative are expanding.
