Naomie Harris, Gwendoline Christie, and Mark Williams have been announced as the latest additions to the ensemble cast of the upcoming family adventure film “Robin and the Hood.” They will be joining rising star Darcey Ewart, known for her roles in “Prancer: A Christmas Tale” and “To Olivia.” The film, directed by Phil Hawkins, completed principal photography during the summer and was written by Stuart Benson and Paul Davidson. The script was first optioned by Silver Reel in 2021 and is set to debut as a Sky Original in the U.K. and Ireland on Sky Cinema.
“Robin and the Hood” follows the story of 11-year-old Robin and her loyal group of friends known as “The Hoods.” Their small patch of overgrown scrubland at the end of their cul-de-sac transforms into a magical kingdom in their imaginative play. Sticks and bin lids become swords and shields, drones become majestic eagles, and even the hippy lady in the forest, played by Gwendoline Christie, becomes a terrifying witch. However, their kingdom is threatened when a property developer named Clipboard, played by Naomie Harris, arrives with promises of health spas and day-care facilities. Despite the children’s protests, their parents are blinded by the potential benefits and fail to see the importance of their imaginative world. So, Robin and her friends take matters into their own hands to defend their kingdom.
The film is produced by Claudia Bluemhuber from Silver Reel and Matt Williams from Future Artists Entertainment. Executive producers include Alexander Jooss, Florian Dargel, and Karol Griffiths from Silver Reel, and Julia Stuart and Andrew Orr from Sky. Bluemhuber expressed her excitement for the film, stating that the script by Benson and Davidson captured their attention from the beginning. She described “Robin and the Hood” as a story with a big heart and plenty of laughter, showcasing the power and importance of imagination in a world that is rapidly losing it. Bluemhuber also expressed her delight in securing a fantastic cast including Naomie, Mark, Gwendoline, and Darcey to lead the film, and is thrilled to have Sky, Future Artists, and GFM joining them on this adventure.
With the addition of Naomie Harris, Gwendoline Christie, and Mark Williams, “Robin and the Hood” has strengthened its ensemble cast with established and talented actors. Naomie Harris is well known for her role as Eve Moneypenny in the James Bond film series and for playing Arthur Weasley in the “Harry Potter” films. Gwendoline Christie gained popularity through her portrayal of Brienne of Tarth in the hit series “Game of Thrones,” while Mark Williams is recognized for his role as Arthur Weasley in the “Harry Potter” films. Their involvement in “Robin and the Hood” is sure to bring depth and complexity to the characters they portray.
The film is set to bring a heartwarming and magical adventure to audiences, capturing the essence of childhood imagination and highlighting the importance of preserving it in a world that often neglects it. With a talented cast, a captivating story, and the support of Sky, Future Artists, and GFM, “Robin and the Hood” promises to be a delightful and memorable film for both children and adults alike.
