Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz recently announced that Victor Rodriguez has been indicted on drug and gun charges after a search of an abandoned home in Bellerose uncovered a massive stash of illegal substances and firearms worth millions of dollars. The discovery was made by a contractor who was hired after the property was sold.
The contractor immediately alerted the police, who conducted a thorough search of the residence. They uncovered eight kilograms of heroin, fentanyl, and cocaine, along with 1.5 million glassine envelopes containing heroin or a mix of heroin and fentanyl. The street value of the drugs was estimated to be between $10 million and $11 million. In addition, the search also uncovered several handguns and hundreds of rounds of ammunition.
District Attorney Katz praised the discovery, stating that the seizure of these lethal narcotics and deadly weapons has undoubtedly saved numerous lives and made the community safer. Victor Rodriguez, a 43-year-old resident of Jamaica, was arraigned on a 112-count indictment that includes charges of operating as a major trafficker, conspiracy, criminal possession of controlled substances, criminal possession of weapons, and multiple counts of possessing illegal firearms and ammunition. If convicted, Rodriguez faces a sentence of 25 years to life in prison.
The charges against Rodriguez stem from an incident on May 30, when a contractor arrived at an abandoned residence on 88th Road in Bellerose. The contractor discovered numerous firearms, gun parts, and large quantities of narcotics. The contractor immediately called 911 and reported the findings to the 105th Precinct. Rodriguez was later captured on surveillance video running to and from the abandoned property with two coolers in his hands, suspected to contain narcotics.
A search warrant was executed the following day, leading to the seizure of approximately 1.5 million glassine envelopes, eight kilos of cocaine, heroin, and fentanyl, a mixture of heroin, fentanyl, cocaine, and tramadol, drug paraphernalia, narcotics packaging equipment, electronic scales, and a DVR digital recorder. The search also revealed the presence of five loaded semiautomatic pistols, a loaded revolver, high-capacity ammunition feeding devices, and over 200 rounds of assorted ammunition. In addition, unfinished frames for ghost guns, complete ghost gun kits, and two respirator masks used in the production and packaging of illegal narcotics were also confiscated.
The evidence found during the search indicates that Rodriguez was involved in major drug trafficking and the possession of various deadly weapons.
