This incident is an example of the USCP’s officers’ diligence and determination in removing dangerous individuals from the streets and ensuring the safety of everyone in the Capitol Complex.
The incident took place on Sunday around 2:15 a.m. when a USCP officer noticed a driver in a white Infiniti Q50 stopped along Massachusetts Avenue, NE, idling at a green traffic light near Union Station. The officer suspected that the driver might be impaired and attempted to make a traffic stop. However, the driver accelerated and crashed into a Capitol Complex vehicle barricade near First Street and D Street, NE.
Both the driver and the passenger fled on foot from the crash, which occurred near USCP headquarters. USCP officers pursued the suspects, and one was apprehended in the 100 block of D Street, NE, while the other was captured in the 500 block of Second Street, NE.
During the investigation, a Glock handgun with a 22 round extended magazine was found on the passenger side seat, along with an additional magazine. Another Glock, equipped with a “Giggle Switch,” was discovered in a flowerbed in the 100 block of C Street, NE.
It was later determined that the Infiniti Q50 had been reported stolen in Prince George’s County, Maryland.
