Gift of Go is a brand new expedition operator that specializes in offering limited, exclusive journeys in lesser-known parts of the world through a series of curated “Collections.” The company is passionate about providing travelers with experiences that are not just recreational, but also purposeful, exhilarating, and enriching.
The inaugural Collection, entitled “Diamonds/Wild Tales + Lost Trails,” will take place in Brazil’s Serra do Espinhaço region. This collection will feature 14-, 21-, and 28-day expeditions that will run between March and September 2024. Additionally, the founders of Gift of Go will also create and guide bespoke itineraries in the region upon request.
Each “GOGO trip” is limited to no more than eight travelers, accompanied by 10-plus crew members. These expeditions are designed to be both physically demanding and incredibly rewarding, incorporating activities such as trekking, bushwhacking, horseback-riding, and off-roading. Travelers will experience continuous immersion, authentic interactions, and candid conversation with local people as they traverse remote regions of Brazil.
The “Diamonds/Wild Tales + Lost Trails” expeditions will cover significant distances, equivalent to that from Paris to Budapest (28 days) and Barcelona to Rome (21 days). The terrain will vary, including homestays in unique communities, such as a little-visited UNESCO World Heritage City (Diamantina) and colonial-era mining towns, festive agricultural communities, historic villas, railway towns, and quilombos (backcountry settlements founded by former slaves).
According to co-founder Eddie Lott, Gift of Go’s trips are designed to provide travelers with a profound and enriching experience that is unlike anything else. Instead of just offering a one-time adventure, the company aims to create experiences that connect travelers with the real-life experiences of people in far-off corners of the world.
As part of the expedition itineraries, Gift of Go divides its trips into different Chapters, each with a unique focus and experience. These include “The Serra” (The Mountains), “The Garden” (The Hinterland), “The Sertão” (The Lowlands), and “The Berço” (The Cradle). Each chapter offers a distinctive and immersive experience, showcasing the diverse landscapes and communities of Brazil.
To ensure the safety and comfort of travelers, the Gift of Go team includes both full-time and part-time crew members who work alongside locals from the region. They provide assistance with trail navigation, driving, boating, and carrying packs, as well as offering insights into the deeper essence of the region. Each trip requires a minimum of two guests and a maximum of eight, and travelers must be ages 25 and above to apply.
In addition to providing unique travel experiences, Gift of Go also stays abreast of the latest news and developments in the travel industry through their curated list of related articles. These articles offer insights into other luxury travel experiences, private tour industry trends, new private jet itineraries, and global travel destinations.
In a world where picture-perfect places and so-called “once-in-a-lifetime” experiences are abundant, Gift of Go stands out by offering real and enriching experiences that connect travelers with the heart and soul of the regions they visit. Whether it’s trekking through lush mountains, traversing disappearing trails, or immersing in local cultures, a journey with Gift of Go promises to be truly unforgettable.
