California-based Karma Automotive has been teasing plans for an electric sports car for several years, and the company has finally unveiled the Karma Kaveya, a concept vehicle that they claim is bound for production and set for a market launch in the fourth quarter of 2025. The Kaveya, which is derived from a Sanskrit word meaning “poetry,” is a grand touring-style coupe with a sleek and aesthetic design reminiscent of the Lexus LFA. The vehicle is based on a new electric vehicle platform that will support a 120-kwh battery, estimated to provide a range of more than 250 miles.
The Karma Kaveya boasts two powertrain options: a rear-wheel-drive option with 536 hp, and an all-wheel-drive option with 1,180 hp. The rear-wheel-drive option will be available at launch, with the all-wheel-drive option expected to hit the market in the fourth quarter of 2026. The vehicle promises to deliver top-notch performance, with a 0-60 mph time of less than three seconds, a top speed of 180 mph, and a targeted curb weight of about 5,300 pounds. To help meet these specifications, Karma will utilize carbon-fiber body panels.
Although details like pricing and production site have not been announced, it is likely that Karma’s plant in Moreno Valley, California, will be the location for production. This U.S.-based EV startup is owned by Chinese auto parts giant, Wanxiang, and is the successor to the original Fisker Automotive, which went bankrupt in 2013. Karma made headlines with the launch of the updated Revero, the latest version of the original Fisker Karma series plug-in hybrid sedan. The reveal of the Kaveya represents a fresh start for the company under new leadership, as it continues to innovate and push boundaries in the electric vehicle sector.
Karma has added fresh talent to its team, including Chief Marques McCammon, who joined the company in March. Former Acura designer Michelle Christensen has also joined the team, bringing expertise from leading the design of the second-generation NSX supercar. The addition of new talent reflects Karma’s commitment to reinventing itself and staying at the forefront of innovation in electric vehicle design and technology.
In addition to the Karma Kaveya, the company announced the Gyesera sedan, a limited-edition electric sedan that resembles the Revero series plug-in hybrid. The Gyesera is set to be made available in the fourth quarter of 2024, with only a few thousand units planned for production.
The unveiling of these new vehicles marks an exciting time for Karma Automotive as it propels itself into the future of electric vehicle production. With a focus on performance, design, and innovative technology, Karma has shown its commitment to pushing boundaries and delivering high-quality, cutting-edge electric vehicles to the market.
As the electric vehicle industry continues to evolve, Karma Automotive is positioning itself as a key player in delivering next-generation electric sports cars and sedans. With its visionary leadership, talented design team, and state-of-the-art technology, Karma is set to make a significant impact on the automotive world in the coming years. The company’s dedication to innovation, quality, and performance ensures that the Karma Kaveya and Gyesera will be vehicles to watch as they make their mark on the electric vehicle landscape.
