One of the most eagerly awaited games from indie developer Team Cherry, Hollow Knight: Silksong, was noticeably absent from the event. While Hollow Knight: Silksong may have been missing from the event, the showcase did see some big metroidvania news with the announcement of a new Shantae game. Shantae Advance: Risky Revolution has been in development for over 20 years, originally intended for the Game Boy Advance. The game features multiple layers that the protagonist, Shantae, can move between to uncover secrets, and is set to be released sometime next year.
The event also highlighted a number of highly anticipated games, including Moonstone Island and Core Keeper. Moonstone Island, a game described as a combination between Pokémon and Stardew Valley, has been a hit on Steam and is set to arrive on the Switch in spring of next year. Core Keeper, a mining-themed roguelike that has garnered a lot of attention on Steam, is scheduled to make its way to the Switch in 2024, promising addictive gameplay and a robust multiplayer component.

In addition to these games, the showcase also featured the surprise launch of Howl, a tactical RPG set in medieval times where players must fend off a plague that turns people into feral beasts. With its strong graphics and art style, Howl is already drawing attention from fans of the genre. Another eagerly anticipated release, A Highland Song, is set to launch on December 5th. This sidescrolling adventure promises an adaptive narrative that changes along with player choice, as well as a soundtrack exclusively populated by Scottish folk bands.
