China’s HiPhi is set to make a big splash at the 2023 Guangzhou auto show with the launch of its new flagship electric hatchback, the HiPhi A. Promising jaw-dropping acceleration and top speeds, the HiPhi A is poised to take the electric vehicle market by storm. This limited edition performance powerhouse is the latest addition to HiPhi’s lineup, joining the HiPhi X SUV and HiPhi Z hatchback.
The HiPhi A is based on the HiPhi Z, with the added “A” in its name signifying a special technology partnership with Apollo, the company behind the Intensa Emozione and Project Evo hypercars. While details on the specific technology borrowed from Apollo have not been disclosed, HiPhi has hinted that the HiPhi A incorporates “traditional hypercar elements” from the renowned manufacturer.
Under the hood, the HiPhi A boasts a cutting-edge electric powertrain consisting of three electric motors – one at the front and two at the rear – delivering a staggering combined output of 1,287 horsepower. This impressive power is complemented by the car’s 800-volt electrical system and a high-performance battery capable of discharging up to 1,500 kW at its peak. While specific range estimates have not been provided, HiPhi has highlighted the battery’s fireproof casing and bulletproof underpanel as standout safety features.
In terms of handling and performance, the HiPhi A is equipped with adaptive dampers, rear-wheel steering, and a sophisticated torque vectoring system, all of which contribute to superior handling and braking capabilities on the road. Additionally, HiPhi has emphasized the car’s near-perfect 50:50 weight distribution as a key factor in its exceptional performance.
Despite its high-performance focus, the HiPhi A doesn’t skimp on luxury and technology features. The vehicle touts premium amenities such as a 23-speaker Meridian audio system, luxurious nappa leather trim, and a suite of electronic driver-assist features driven by an array of 34 sensors, including lidar technology. The futuristic interior is highlighted by a floating infotainment screen mounted to an “eight-direction, infinitely adjustable, high-speed motion robotic arm,” showcasing HiPhi’s commitment to cutting-edge design and innovation.
As HiPhi prepares to reveal more details about the HiPhi A in the coming months, the brand is also expanding its reach beyond China. While it has yet to establish a presence in the U.S., HiPhi has recently made inroads in the European market, opening showrooms in Germany and Norway, signaling its ambition to become a global player in the electric vehicle arena.
With the impending debut of the HiPhi A at the Guangzhou auto show, the stage is set for HiPhi to make a bold statement in the high-performance electric vehicle segment. As the brand continues to push the boundaries of innovation and redefine the driving experience, the HiPhi A stands as a testament to China’s growing prominence in the global automotive industry.
