Audi is set to release more powerful versions of its popular RS 6 Avant wagon and RS 7 Sportback hatch starting this fall. These new versions, known as the Performance models, will boast an impressive increase in power, with their output rising by 30 horsepower to a total of 621 horsepower.
The RS 6 Avant Performance will be priced from $126,895, while the RS 7 Sportback Performance will start at $128,895. These prices include a $1,095 destination charge. Both models will arrive as 2024 models.
Last fall, Audi unveiled the performance duo, and they are now making their way to the U.S. market. As part of their launch, Audi will be offering a special Bronze edition version exclusively for the U.S. market. The Bronze edition will be limited to 75 units for the RS 6 Avant Performance and 50 units for the RS 7 Sportback Performance.
The Bronze edition cars will come in a stunning black crystal effect paint, paired with 22-inch wheels in a matte gold finish. These special editions will also include a range of available features as standard, such as a Valcona leather package, a Bang & Olufsen audio system, black exterior accents, and a raised top speed limiter of 174 mph. The pricing for the Bronze edition models has not been announced yet.
Under the hood, both models will feature a turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine. With the increase in power, Audi estimates that the RS 6 Avant Performance and RS 7 Sportback Performance will be able to accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 3.3 seconds, making them 0.2 seconds quicker than before. The top speed for these models is limited to 155 mph, except for the Bronze edition, which gets a higher limit of 174 mph.
In addition to the powertrain upgrades, Audi has also made some mechanical improvements to enhance the driving experience. The mechanical self-locking center differential has been updated to be smaller and lighter, reducing understeer at the limit. The 8-speed automatic transmission has also been tweaked for quicker shift times. To further enhance the driving experience, Audi has removed some sound insulation material to allow more engine noise into the cabin, and buyers can also opt for a sport exhaust system for added excitement.
Inside the RS 6 Avant Performance and RS 7 Sportback Performance, buyers will have the option to add packages that introduce gray, red, or blue accents to the interior. These packages also include a mix of Alcantara and microfiber trim. The digital instrument cluster features a shift indicator that changes colors and blinks to indicate the optimal time to shift gears in manual mode. Additionally, the Launch Control system includes new traffic light icons that signal the ideal moment to accelerate off the line.
In conclusion, Audi is expanding its RS 6 Avant wagon and RS 7 Sportback hatch lineup with more powerful Performance versions. These models offer an increase in power, stylish design elements, and a range of interior options to enhance the driving experience. With the launch of the Bronze edition models, Audi is introducing a limited-edition variant that adds exclusivity and luxury to this performance lineup.
