Belkin, a prominent tech accessories company, is embracing the new magnet-enhanced Qi2 wireless charging standard with the introduction of two new products at Berlin’s IFA 2023 tech show. The first product is the BoostCharge Convertible Qi2 Wireless Pad to Stand, a versatile charging pad that can be used as a traditional Qi pad or hold a phone upright while it charges. This is especially useful for the iPhone’s new StandBy feature. The second product is the BoostCharge Pro 3-in-1 Wireless Charging Pad with Qi2, which features two wireless charging pads (one 15W and one 5W) and a USB-C port for charging a third device such as an Apple Watch with an optional dongle.
Belkin’s new Qi2 chargers are MagSafe-compatible, meaning they can deliver a full 15W of power to MagSafe iPhones. Mark Robinson, Belkin’s head of product marketing for EMEA, confirms that the Qi2 chargers will charge MagSafe iPhones at 15W. Additionally, any Qi2 compatible device will also charge at 15W.
In addition to the Qi2 chargers, Belkin is announcing several other accessories. The BoostCharge Pro Universal Easy Align Wireless Charging Pad 15W is a charging pad that can charge Qi-enabled devices at up to 15W, though it doesn’t mention compatibility with Qi2. Belkin is also introducing the Connect 5-in-1 Thunderbolt 4 Hub, which includes four Thunderbolt 4 ports and one USB-A port. The upstream port can deliver up to 96W of power to a connected laptop, while the three downstream ports can provide 15W of power to accessories and enough bandwidth for two 4K displays at 60Hz or one 8K display at 30Hz.
For those who prefer wired charging, Belkin offers the BoostCharge Pro 140W 4-Port GaN Wall Charger with three USB-C ports and one USB-A port. And for added convenience, Belkin is releasing the BoostCharge Hybrid Wall Charger 25W + Power Bank 5K, which functions as both a wall charger and a power bank with one USB-A and one USB-C port.
In the UK, these new Belkin accessories will be available starting in early September, and release information for the US is yet to be confirmed. The BoostCharge Pro Universal Easy Align Wireless Charging Pad 15W will be priced at $39.99 (£29.99), while the BoostCharge Pro 3-in-1 Wireless Charging Pad with Qi2 will cost $129.99 (£119.99) and includes an Apple Watch charging USB-C dongle. Without the dongle, it will be priced at $79.99 (£69.99). The BoostCharge Convertible Qi2 Wireless Pad to Stand will retail for $59.99 (£49.99). The BoostCharge Pro 140W 4-Port GaN Wall Charger is set at $129.99 (£139.99), and the BoostCharge Hybrid Wall Charger 25W + Power Bank 5K will be available for $59.99 (£59.99). Lastly, the Connect 5-in-1 Thunderbolt 4 Hub is priced at $199.99 (£199.99).
With the introduction of these new Qi2 chargers and other accessories, Belkin aims to provide users with a variety of charging solutions that cater to both wireless and wired charging preferences. The Qi2 chargers, in particular, offer fast and efficient charging for MagSafe iPhones and other compatible devices, making it a valuable addition to the Belkin product lineup.
