Brookhaven, GA. (BPD / News Release) – On Friday, September 29, 2023, the Brookhaven Police Department received a call regarding a missing person. Aimee Lafakis, a 48-year-old woman, had been last seen on Thursday, September 28, 2023. Concerned for her safety, her family contacted the police. The Brookhaven Police Criminal Investigations Division immediately responded to the call and initiated an investigation.
Officers arrived at the home of Aimee Lafakis on Glen Way and met with her family. They conducted interviews with her family members and individuals close to Aimee, gathering information to aid in the investigation. The authorities also visited the residence of Aimee’s boyfriend, Brandon Wineinger, who was considered a person of interest in her disappearance.

Gwinnett County Police homicide detectives joined forces with the Brookhaven investigators and proceeded to the location indicated, which was later confirmed to be the remains of Aimee Lafakis.
