Cadillac recently announced that the base price for its forthcoming flagship electric hatchback, the Celestiq, will start at approximately $340,000. This price does not include the destination fee, and actual transacted prices may be even higher due to the high level of personalization options available to customers.
Cadillac spokeswoman Melissa Grady Dias revealed this information on LinkedIn, where she also mentioned that the base price is for a “blank canvas” configuration. This indicates that customers will have the opportunity to personalize their Celestiq to their exact specifications. While Cadillac has not yet provided specific details on the personalization options, they have confirmed the return of the iconic Cadillac goddess logo on certain exterior and interior parts of the vehicle. Additionally, a video featuring musician and future Celestiq owner Lenny Kravitz showed him exploring various colors and trim materials, suggesting a wide range of customization choices.
To facilitate the personalization process, Cadillac will offer customers access to an on-call concierge and their team of designers. This hands-on approach aims to help customers create their ideal configuration for the Celestiq. Furthermore, customers will have the option to visit a new Cadillac House location at the General Motors Global Technical Center in Warren, Michigan, either physically or virtually. This personalized experience will allow them to see where their vehicle is being built and further enhance their connection with the brand.
Production of the Celestiq is scheduled to begin in December, with Cadillac opting for a meticulous approach to assembly. Each car will be largely hand-built at a rate of only 1.2 units per day, resulting in an annual production of fewer than 500 vehicles. Deliveries are planned to commence in the spring of 2024. Given the “extremely high demand” already expressed for the vehicle, individuals who have not reserved a build slot may face a considerable waiting period before they can receive their Celestiq.
Underneath its luxurious exterior, the Celestiq will be built upon General Motors’ Ultium EV platform and battery technology. It will feature an impressive 600 horsepower and a 111-kWh battery, which is estimated to provide around 300 miles of range. The vehicle will also support fast charging at up to 200 kW, allowing owners to add 80 miles of range in just 10 minutes using a DC fast charger.
The Celestiq will embrace cutting-edge technology, with many features available either as standard or optional. Highlights include a massive 55-inch dash-wide digital display, offering an immersive and futuristic driving experience. The vehicle will also boast a four-panel glass roof, allowing occupants to individually adjust the level of transparency. Furthermore, the Celestiq will pamper passengers with a remarkable 38-speaker AKG sound system, delivering an unparalleled audio experience. Additionally, Cadillac’s Ultra Cruise, an advanced automated driver-assist feature, will make its debut in the Celestiq. This system is designed to function on 95% of U.S. roads, promising enhanced safety and convenience for the driver.
In conclusion, the Celestiq will represent the pinnacle of Cadillac’s innovation, luxury, and personalization. With a starting price of around $340,000, this flagship electric hatchback aims to redefine the luxury electric vehicle segment. Supported by advanced technology and a meticulous attention to detail, the Celestiq promises to deliver an exceptional driving experience that perfectly embodies Cadillac’s vision for the future.
