Highland Film Group’s latest action-comedy, “Old Guy”, starring Christoph Waltz, Lucy Liu, and Cooper Hoffman, has successfully inked several lucrative international deals, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. Directed by Simon West, known for his works such as “The Mechanic”, “Lara Croft: Tomb Raider”, and “The Expendables 2”, and written by Greg Johnson, “Old Guy” has sold to various international distributors such as SND Films for France, Square One Entertainment for Germany, and Vertigo Releasing and Lumiere Ventures for the UK. Other countries where the film has already been sold include Spain, Greece, Portugal, Scandinavia, Eastern Europe, Turkey, the Middle East, Israel, Latin America, Taiwan, South Africa, and Australia and New Zealand for release.
The plot of the film centers on aging contract killer Danny Dolinski (Waltz), who still believes he’s the best in the game. Stuck with a dead-end job and seeking the love of Anata (Liu), his club manager, Danny is excited when The Company pulls him back into the field, but only as a trainer for the newbie Wihlborg (Hoffman), a young and prodigious assassin determined to prove himself. However, the mismatched duo is tasked with eliminating top members of a competing crime syndicate and in the process, uncover their employer’s true motive: removing the old guard in a full takeover. The twist comes when Danny and Wihlborg actually become close and create an unlikely bond between themselves, assisted by Anata, that eventually enables them to thwart The Company.
