G-League basketball player Chance Comanche has been arrested for his alleged involvement in the murder of a woman earlier this month. According to court documents, Comanche confessed to police that he strangled Marayna Rodgers before burying her body in a Nevada desert.
The incident reportedly occurred on December 6, when Comanche and his ex-girlfriend, 19-year-old Sakari Harnden, lured Rodgers with the promise of payment for sexual acts. They picked up a bottle of alcohol from a liquor store and pretended they would have intercourse with her in the car. However, Comanche allegedly used an HDMI cord to strangle Rodgers for about 10 seconds before Harnden continued to choke her until she was unresponsive.
After believing Rodgers was dead, the pair dumped her body in a ditch and buried it with rocks. Comanche was arrested on December 15 while practicing with the Stockton Kings, and Harnden was arrested on December 13 in Las Vegas. Both are facing murder charges.
Comanche, a 27-year-old and 6-foot-10 center who played in one NBA game in his career, appeared stoic in court and indicated he would not fight extradition. He is expected to be transported to Las Vegas in the coming days.
