Graham’s, a purveyor of fine port with a rich history spanning centuries, has recently made its first foray into the world of non-fungible tokens (NFTs). To celebrate 50 years under the stewardship of the Symington family, the company has released 50 special Port cases that have been authenticated as NFTs.
Starting from July 24, collectors have the opportunity to acquire a limited-edition case containing two bottles of anniversary grade Port. The first bottle is from the 1970 batch, representing one of the earliest wines produced under the Symington family’s stewardship. In contrast, the second bottle is from the 2020 anniversary edition, marking 50 years of the family’s involvement.
Out of the 50 cases available, Graham’s has made 44 exclusively accessible at its facility in Graham’s lodge, located in Portugal. Each of these cases provides additional benefits to its owner, such as a whitelist place for the next drop and six free guided tours and tastings at Graham’s lodge. Moreover, three of these 44 cases offer a private visit for four to Quinta dos Malvedos, the principal estate of Graham’s in the Douro Valley, where visitors can enjoy a guided tour and a tutored wine tasting experience.
The remaining six cases of Graham’s celebratory port will be made available through different platforms. Five of them will be reserved for sale on the WineChain Web3 platform. Meanwhile, the final case will be auctioned off in support of the Gerrard Basset Foundation at the Golden Vines Online Auction. Each case will feature its own unique utility, though further details have not yet been disclosed.
This exciting venture into NFTs is the result of a collaboration between Graham’s and the cutting-edge Club dVIN collectible wine platform. Through this partnership, each bottle in the collection has been embedded with its own near-field communication (NFC) chip. This chip not only guarantees the authenticity of the items but also allows owners to access their NFTs by simply tapping the chip with their phones.
For eager wine enthusiasts with a taste for fine Port, the opportunity to acquire these exclusive NFT-authenticated cases is now available at Graham’s.
