Dodge’s Challenger and Charger SRT Hellcat models have been synonymous with affordable performance since their debut almost a decade ago. However, the end is near for these beloved models, as the 2023 model year will be the last for the performance duo. This is due to the fact that Dodge’s parent company, Stellantis, will cease building their supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 engines at the end of the year.
To mark the end of an era, Hennessey is offering a final-edition upgrade for the Challenger and Charger SRT Hellcat models known as the H1000 Last Stand package. This upgrade is available for models from the 2021-2023 model years, and only 50 examples of this limited edition will be produced. The upgrade boasts an impressive 1,000 hp, just 25 hp shy of the wild Challenger SRT Demon 170’s output. Notably, the Hennessey’s output is achieved on regular pump gas, while the Demon 170 requires E85, with output dropping to 900 hp on regular fuel.
Performance for the upgraded Hennesseys includes a 0-60 mph time of 2.8 seconds and a quarter-mile time of 9.9 seconds at 141 mph. Key modifications include a larger supercharger (non-Redeye models only), a pulley upgrade, a new throttle body, long-tube headers, high-flow catalytic converters, upgraded fuel injectors, and a high-flow intake. These modifications are meticulously tested and tuned to ensure a harmonious performance, with each car undergoing extensive road and track testing. Hennessey offers a three-year, 36,000-mile limited warranty for these upgrades.
To make the cars stand out, the H1000 Last Stand Challenger and Charger SRT Hellcat models feature a custom rear spoiler, rear diffuser, front splitter, and side skirts all made from carbon fiber. Additionally, they include a Last Stand graphics package and unique 20-inch wheels that can be ordered in gloss black or gray. Each car also comes with a serialized plaque signifying its position in the 50-build run.
The pricing for the upgrade alone starts at $64,950. However, customers supplying a Redeye as the donor car get a discounted price of $54,950, as there’s no need to upgrade the supercharger. Hennessey, not content to limit its final-edition offerings to the Dodge models, is also offering a 1,000-hp send-off for the current-generation Chevrolet Camaro, which is ending after the 2024 model year. While Chevrolet remains silent on what comes next for the Camaro, Dodge has already confirmed electric replacements for the void left by the Challenger and Charger. It previewed one of those replacements last year with its Charger Daytona SRT concept.
In conclusion, the end of the road is near for the Challenger and Charger SRT Hellcat models. However, car enthusiasts can commemorate the final year of production with the Hennessey H1000 Last Stand package, boasting impressive power and performance in a limited-edition package. As Dodge prepares to pivot towards electric replacements, the legacy of the Challenger and Charger SRT Hellcat models will be celebrated by those who appreciate their impressive power and performance.
