Humane, a startup company, has officially unveiled its innovative device, the Ai Pin. The product was introduced on the runway of Paris Fashion Week in October, when model Naomi Campbell was spotted wearing it. The Ai Pin is a pocket-worn wearable AI assistant, designed to perform various tasks typically carried out by smartphones and voice assistants. The distinguishing feature of the Ai Pin is its lack of a screen; instead, it operates primarily through voice commands and, occasionally, a virtual screen projected onto the user’s hand.
Another unique attribute of the Ai Pin is its ability to work independently of other devices. It is connected to its own phone network through T-Mobile but operates on Humane’s own MVNO network. The device is set to be priced at $700, with an additional monthly cost of $24 for unlimited talk, text, and data. Customers can expect the Ai Pin to be shipped in early 2024.
The technology behind the Ai Pin is indeed exciting, but there is still a strong desire for more in-depth demonstrations and hands-on impressions. There continues to be a level of skepticism, especially considering the cautionary tale of Google Glass, which failed to gain traction in the tech market.
In addition to the Ai Pin release, another product making waves in the tech industry is the Steam Deck OLED. Priced at $550, the Steam Deck OLED is a mid-cycle refresh from Valve, comparable to the Switch OLED upgrade. The device boasts a superior screen, improved battery life, upgraded chip and thermals, and enhanced charging capabilities.
For music enthusiasts, Teenage Engineering has completed its Field series of studio gear. The TP-7 and CM15, playful in design and solid in hardware, have been recognized for their creativity-inducing capabilities.
In other news, Omegle, a random chat service known for linking users to talk via text or video, is shutting down after 14 years. The founder admits that the service was misused by some to commit unspeakably heinous crimes. The closure of the platform addresses concerns about its safety and potential misuse.
In the gaming industry, it has been reported that Sony has now sold over 46.6 million PS5 consoles. This milestone has sparked the release of refreshed hardware bundles featuring popular games like Marvel’s ‘Spider-Man 2’ and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III.
Overall, the tech industry is buzzing with new innovations and developments. From wearable AI assistants to cutting-edge gaming consoles, there is no shortage of groundbreaking technology available to consumers. As we venture into the future, it’s thrilling to see how these products will impact our daily lives and continue to push the boundaries of what is possible.
