Sharon Farrell, known for her roles in films such as “It’s Alive” and “Marlowe”, has passed away at the age of 82. Her son, Chance Boyer, confirmed that she died unexpectedly from natural causes on May 15 at a hospital in Orange County.
Despite her unfortunate demise, Farrell leaves behind a noteworthy acting career. In addition to her memorable performance in “It’s Alive”, where she played a mother trying to protect her murderous infant, she also showcased her talent in films like “The Reivers” and “The Stunt Man”. Her range as an actress allowed her to take on diverse roles, such as playing a movie hairstylist in “The Stunt Man” and the ex-wife of Chuck Norris’ Texas Ranger in “Lone Wolf McQuade”.
In the realm of television, Farrell had significant recurring roles. One of her notable appearances was as Detective Lori Wilson in the final season (1979-80) of CBS’ “Hawaii Five-O”. She also portrayed Florence Webster, the mother of Tricia Cast’s character Nina Webster, on the CBS soap opera “The Young and the Restless” from 1991-97.
Born on Christmas Eve in 1940 in Sioux City, Iowa as Sharon Forsmoe, Farrell began her career in the entertainment industry as a dancer in the American Ballet Company. She later ventured into acting and modeling, making her film debut in “Kiss Her Goodbye” in 1959. Her talent brought her to Broadway, where she danced in the production of Josh Logan’s “There Was a Little Girl” in 1960.
Throughout her career, Farrell appeared in numerous television shows and films. She made appearances on popular shows like “My Favorite Martian”, “Wagon Train”, “Gunsmoke”, “The Beverly Hillbillies”, “The Man From U.N.C.L.E.”, and “The Wild Wild West”. Her filmography includes works such as “A Lovely Way to Die”, “Not With My Wife, You Don’t!”, “The Love Machine”, and “Night of the Comet”.
Aside from her acting career, Farrell was also involved in a love triangle with Bruce Lee and Steve McQueen, according to Matthew Polly’s book “Bruce Lee: A Life”. This resulted in Lee and McQueen not being able to work together on a movie project. Farrell also had relationships with actors Andrew Prine and John F. Boyer, producer Ron DeBlasio, and director Dale Trevillion, though she never married any of them.
Farrell is survived by her son Chance Boyer, who is also an actor known for his roles in “Harry and the Hendersons” and “General Hospital”, her grandson Wayde, and her daughter-in-law Mandi.
