Composer Benjamin Wallfisch has been announced as the composer for the upcoming film, “Kraven the Hunter.” This Sony and Columbia feature stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson as the Marvel antihero and is set to be released on October 6th.
Wallfisch is no stranger to the comic book genre, having previously composed the score for films like “The Flash,” “Shazam!,” and “Hellboy.” He has also worked on other notable projects such as “It” and “Mortal Kombat.” Collaborating with director Andy Muschietti, Wallfisch composed the scores for both chapters of “It,” released in 2017 and 2019. Additionally, he worked on Ron Howard’s “Thirteen Lives” (2022), “Mortal Kombat” (2021), “The Invisible Man” (2020), and “Blade Runner 2049” (2017) alongside Hans Zimmer.
“Kraven the Hunter” is directed by J. C. Chandor and features a talented cast including Ariana DeBose, Fred Hechinger, Alessandro Nivola, Christopher Abbott, and Russell Crowe. The film is based on the comic book character Kraven, a big-game hunter known for his pursuit of Spider-Man. One of Kraven’s most iconic storylines is “Kraven’s Last Hunt” from the 1980s, in which he buries Spider-Man alive and takes on his identity.
The first trailer for “Kraven the Hunter” showcased the R-rated nature of the film, making it the first Sony/Marvel movie to receive an R-rating. In addition to “Kraven the Hunter,” Sony has several other Spider-Man spinoffs in the works, including “Madame Web,” set to be released on February 16th and starring Dakota Johnson and Sydney Sweeney. The studio has also released two “Venom” films, with a third installment starring Tom Hardy on the horizon. Recently, Sony removed the feature “El Muerto” from its release calendar due to script delays caused by the writers’ strike.
With Wallfisch’s experience in the comic book genre, fans can expect a captivating and fitting score for “Kraven the Hunter.” His previous work showcases a versatility and ability to enhance a film’s narrative through his compositions. From the thrilling and intense action sequences to the emotional depth of the characters, Wallfisch has proven time and time again that he can deliver exceptional music that elevates the viewing experience.
As the release date approaches, fans can look forward to experiencing Wallfisch’s score in theaters alongside the highly anticipated film. With his impressive track record and understanding of the genre, fans of Wallfisch and the comic book adaptations can expect nothing less than a memorable and impactful musical accompaniment to “Kraven the Hunter.”
