Logitech has acquired Loupedeck, the company behind the popular self-titled editing console used by streamers and creative professionals. The acquisition, for an undisclosed sum, marks Logitech’s continued efforts to expand its presence in the streaming market and compete with companies like Elgato. This move follows Logitech’s acquisition of Mevo, a camera hardware and software company specializing in livestreaming, in 2021.
The partnership between Logitech and Loupedeck aims to provide a more seamless experience for creators. This could mean that Loupedeck’s hardware will come with more specialized presets out of the box and better integration with Streamlabs, the streaming platform acquired by Logitech back in 2019.
Loupedeck originally started as a Lightroom editor but has since evolved to offer advanced consoles for creative professionals. Former Nokia designers played a key role in bringing Loupedeck to life. In recent years, Loupedeck has launched the Loupedeck Live and Loupedeck Live S, which directly compete with Elgato’s Stream Deck. Loupedeck’s hardware and software combination has even been licensed by Razer for its own Stream Controller.
With this acquisition, Logitech intends to leverage Loupedeck’s strong and growing developer community and combine their complementary expertise in tightly coupling hardware and software. Loupedeck has assured its existing customers and partners that it will continue to support them and operate as usual.
The future of the Loupedeck branding under Logitech is uncertain. It remains to be seen if Logitech will integrate Loupedeck into its Logitech G app or handle the branding separately. Ujesh Desai, general manager of Logitech G, expressed the joint passion of Loupedeck and Logitech for empowering streamers, creators, and gamers. He emphasized their focus on removing barriers and enabling seamless creation, editing, and streaming experiences. Desai also mentioned Logitech’s ambitions of making keyboards, mice, and other devices smarter and contextually aware to enhance the audience’s experience across Logitech’s product portfolio.
Considering Logitech’s rebranding of Yeti and Astro under its main Logitech G brand, it is likely that a similar strategy will be implemented for Loupedeck in the future. However, Logitech’s plans for the Loupedeck branding have not been officially confirmed.
Logitech’s acquisition of Loupedeck expands its portfolio and accelerates its software ambitions. By bringing together hardware and software expertise, Logitech aims to enhance the user experience across its products, ultimately benefiting its audience of streamers, creators, and gamers.
