Lucid’s Gravity all-electric SUV has been gaining attention since it was originally introduced back in 2022. Now, more details are emerging about this highly anticipated vehicle, including pricing, availability, and range metrics. Unfortunately, the SUV likely won’t be available until 2025, as production doesn’t officially ramp up until late 2024.
While some details were already known about the EV, such as the roomy three-row interior, new range data has been revealed. Lucid CEO Peter Rawlinson promises a range of at least 440 miles, which could potentially exceed that figure once the Gravity hits the assembly line. The company has stated that this EV will have a greater electric range than any SUV on the market today.
According to Kelly Blue Book, the Gravity will easily exceed this promise, as the current top-range EV SUV is the Fisker Ocean, with a max driving range of 350 miles per charge. However, if Lucid’s forthcoming SUV truly gets 440 miles per charge, it will place it near the top of the list for any electric vehicle, SUV or not. The only competition will be another Lucid automobile, as the Air Grand Touring sedan gets 516 miles per charge, according to MotorTrend.
The Gravity, like the Air line, is built on a 900-volt electrical architecture that supports DC fast-charging. The company claims the forthcoming EV can accelerate from 0 to 60 in 3.5 seconds, thanks to its dual-motor setup, and boasts a payload capacity of 1,500 pounds with the ability to tow a further 6,000 pounds.
In addition to impressive metrics, Lucid unveiled the interior of the SUV. The Gravity will feature a 34-inch OLED main display and an optional lower display, with multitasking capabilities available between the two. These displays won’t obstruct the dash cluster and will even offer gaming applications in the future, according to Derek Jenkins, senior vice president of design and brand at Lucid.
The steering wheel includes two touch controllers inspired by the Apple TV remote, allowing for precise thumb movements to select items from the infotainment screen and adjust dashboard display elements. Considering that this is a three-row vehicle, there’s plenty of room for friends and family, with seating for up to seven people.
As anticipated, the price is expected to be around $80,000, though it’s worth noting that this could potentially change before the cars hit showrooms in 2025.
Overall, the upcoming Lucid Gravity all-electric SUV is generating a significant amount of buzz due to its impressive range, powerful performance, and innovative interior design. With production set to ramp up in late 2024, the Gravity is poised to make a significant impact in the competitive electric vehicle market. By combining cutting-edge technology with a spacious and luxurious interior, this SUV is set to redefine the industry standards for electric vehicles. Consumers eagerly await the opportunity to experience the revolutionary features and capabilities of the Lucid Gravity, which promises to emerge as a frontrunner in the world of electric SUVs.
