Lucy Hale has landed the lead role in the upcoming action-comedy film, “F*** Mary Kill”, produced by Lionsgate and BuzzFeed Studios. Directed by Laura Murphy and written by Ivan Diaz and Meghan Brown, the movie follows a true-crime enthusiast in Boulder, Colo., who must determine which of the three men she’s dating is her “f*ckboy”, which one is marriage material, and which one is the Swipe Right Killer, a city terrorizer who wants to murder her.
In addition to Hale, the film features an ensemble cast including Virginia Gardner, Jedidiah Goodacre, Brendan Moran, Samer Salem, Brooke Nevin, and Bethany Brown. The production recently completed filming before the industry strike.
Building on the success of their previous collaboration, “Puppy Love” (which premiered on Amazon Freevee earlier this summer), Lionsgate and BuzzFeed Studios are presenting “F*** Mary Kill” at the AFM (American Film Market). The film is produced by Richard Alan Reid, Michael Philip, and Jason Moring of BuzzFeed Inc.
Both Lionsgate and BuzzFeed Studios are known for their ability to connect with their respective audiences, and the addition of Lucy Hale to the project enhances its star power. Hale is praised for her versatility in seamlessly transitioning between comedy and thriller genres. Lauren Bixby, Senior Vice President of Acquisitions and Co-Productions for Lionsgate, expressed enthusiasm about the film, stating, “In ‘F*** Mary Kill’, [Hale] brings those genres together for an incredibly entertaining movie that we’re excited to be bringing to audiences.”
This collaboration marks the fifth film that Lionsgate and BuzzFeed Studios have worked on together. Previous projects include the horror film “Dear David”, the dog-loving romantic comedy “Puppy Love”, the LGBTQ rom-com “My Fake Boyfriend”, and the gaming comedy “1UP”. The partnership between the two studios has been successful in delivering fresh and innovative films for young audiences.
Richard Alan Reid, Executive Vice President and Head of BuzzFeed Studios, reaffirmed the studios’ commitment to creating unique and engaging content with the collaboration. He said, “We’re excited to continue our mission of delivering fresh, innovative films with our friends at Lionsgate, and we were delighted to team up again with the fantastic Lucy Hale and Virginia Gardner on another hit for young audiences.”
Lucy Hale, who is represented by CAA and Reel Talent Management, has established herself as a talented actress in both film and television. Joining her in the film is Virginia Gardner, represented by Independent Artist Group and Sugar23.
Overall, “F*** Mary Kill” promises to be an entertaining and unique blend of comedy and action, featuring a talented cast and the combined expertise of Lionsgate and BuzzFeed Studios. Audiences can eagerly anticipate its release and expect another hit from this successful partnership.
