Gaming accessory company Human Things is introducing its latest collection, the Alpine collection, through a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter. The collection includes new Genki ShadowCast external capture cards as well as an upgraded Covert Dock GaN charger specifically designed for the Nintendo Switch.
One of the standout products in the collection is the Genki ShadowCast 2 Pro capture device. It offers support for up to 4K video at 60 frames per second and is equipped with HDMI passthrough with HDR and VRR capabilities. The ease of setup is one of its main selling points, as users simply need to connect their gaming system, such as a PS5, to the ShadowCast 2 Pro hardware, and then connect a USB-C iPad or a computer. The video can be captured through various software like Genki Studio, OBS, or other compatible programs. Additionally, the captured video can be viewed on a TV connected to the device’s second HDMI port. The ShadowCast 2 Pro can even handle high frame rates such as 144 or 240 frames per second if the resolution is reduced to either 1440p or 1080p. Moreover, there are two 3.5mm audio ports available for monitoring and mixing purposes, enhancing the overall streaming experience.
The older model of the Genki ShadowCast capture card has received an upgrade as well. The new ShadowCast 2 is priced at $49 and boasts support for 1080p captures at 60 frames per second. It also utilizes a USB 3.2 connection, which improves its performance compared to the previous version. This compact dongle-style capture card is designed to fit seamlessly within the Nintendo Switch dock while being connected via HDMI. By connecting an iPad to the ShadowCast 2, users gain the ability to enjoy Nintendo Switch games on the go.
Another noteworthy addition to the Alpine collection is the Covert Dock 2, an upgraded version of the Covert Dock for the Nintendo Switch. Priced at $60, the Covert Dock 2 offers an increased power output of 45W, compared to the 30W featured in the previous version. This means that the device can efficiently charge an iPad while simultaneously keeping the Nintendo Switch in dock mode. Furthermore, users can attach a ShadowCast device to the Covert Dock 2 to create a portable gaming setup using an iPad or computer. The Covert Dock 2 is designed to save space in bags and backpacks during travel, offering a convenient all-in-one charging and gaming solution.
The ShadowCast 2 Pro will be available for purchase at a price of $160, but backers of the Kickstarter campaign have the opportunity to acquire it for a discounted price of $129. Additionally, customers can take advantage of discounted prices on other accessories from the Alpine collection when bundled together. Notably, the shells of these accessories are transparent, which may appeal to those who appreciate unique and visually striking designs.
Overall, Human Things’ Alpine collection seeks to enhance the gaming and streaming experience through its high-quality recording capabilities, improved functionality, and convenient portability. With the Genki ShadowCast external capture cards and the Covert Dock GaN charger, gamers can elevate their setups and enjoy the benefits of seamless video capturing and versatile charging options.
