Paramount Global announced on Monday that internationally produced original content from Paramount+ will now be available globally on the streaming service. This move comes as Hollywood studios are adjusting their fall and winter premiere plans due to the ongoing actors and writers’ strike that has disrupted production for several weeks.
Paramount+ has revealed the worldwide premiere dates for several key originals from outside the U.S. British drama “The Gold” will be released in all international markets on September 14th and in the U.S. on September 17th. The globally acclaimed Korean crime-thriller “Bargain” will make its debut worldwide on October 5th. Additionally, the second season of the Spanish-language series “Los Enviados” will be available on Paramount+ globally by the end of this year. The first season of the show was a success, becoming the best-performing Spanish-language scripted series on the service in the U.S. to date.
Other international series set to premiere on Paramount+ include British drama “Sexy Beast” and South Korean series “Queen Woo” and “A Bloody Lucky Day.” These three shows will exclusively premiere on the streamer in various countries including the U.S., Canada, U.K., Australia, Latin America, Brazil, Italy, France, Germany, Switzerland, and Austria.
According to Paramount Global, the international slate of content on Paramount+ has been performing well among subscribers worldwide and continues to expand. The streaming service has already produced, is currently producing, or has greenlit 85 international originals, making it a leading streamer globally.
Tom Ryan, President and CEO of Streaming at Paramount, stated that they believe in the power of internationally originated content to drive engagement. They recognize the strong demand for high-quality programming from around the world and are excited to leverage Paramount’s global scale and expertise to create new hits and franchises with worldwide appeal.
Earlier this year, Paramount launched Paramount Television International Studios as its new international studio division. This division focuses on creating premium international scripted content to fuel the growth of Paramount+. The international studios unit has already achieved significant success, with over 70% of viewership coming from outside the content’s origin country. Recent successes include the Mexican films “At Midnight” and “Uno Para Morir” (Death’s Roulette), which have garnered more than 85% of viewership from non-Mexican markets.
