The white apartment manager in North Carolina who was caught on video hitting a Black 11-year-old boy and pouring soda on him is now facing legal action from the boy’s parents. Robert Eury and Joella Lee-Eury have filed a federal lawsuit against Kimberly Jennings, the apartment manager, alleging that she physically assaulted their son and 8-year-old daughter because they were using the pool at the complex she manages.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, the incident occurred when the Eury children were swimming in the pool at an apartment complex where their friends live. Jennings ordered them out of the water, and the parents claim that their kids were attempting to leave when Jennings approached their son. She allegedly poured soda over his head and struck him in the face multiple times. The parents assert that Jennings targeted their children simply because they were swimming in the pool at the property she manages.
Furthermore, the lawsuit states that Jennings also pulled their daughter’s hair and hit her after ordering the kids out of the pool. The parents have even accused Jennings of using a racial slur, telling their son that he was “acting like a real n*****.”
Jennings was subsequently arrested on an assault charge. However, the parents argue that their children are still suffering from the traumatic incident, and have decided to take legal action. They are suing for discrimination, assault and battery, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
In addition to naming Jennings as a defendant, the lawsuit also targets the apartment complex and the real estate company associated with the property. The parents are seeking damages for the harm caused to their children.
This case highlights the ongoing issue of racial discrimination and violence against Black individuals in America. It is deeply concerning that a person in a position of authority would use physical force and racial slurs against children simply because of their race. The incident not only violated the children’s rights, but also left them traumatized.
It is crucial that instances of racial discrimination and violence are addressed and that appropriate legal action is taken. By filing this lawsuit, the parents are not only seeking justice for their children, but also sending a message that such behavior will not be tolerated.
Discrimination and violence have no place in our society, and it is important that individuals in positions of power, such as apartment managers, are held accountable for their actions. This case serves as a reminder of the work that still needs to be done to ensure equality and justice for all.
It is hoped that through this lawsuit, the Eury family will receive the justice they deserve and that this incident will serve as a catalyst for change in how racial discrimination is addressed and prevented in the future.
It is important for individuals and communities to continue to speak out against racial discrimination and to support those who have been affected by it. By standing together, we can work towards a more inclusive and equitable society for all.
