The Ford Mustang is one of the most popular cars for customization, and at the 2023 SEMA show in Las Vegas, Ringbrothers, a renowned Wisconsin company specializing in custom muscle cars, showcased their latest creation: Uncaged. This stunning car is based on a 1965 Mustang convertible and serves as a follow-up to last year’s custom Mustang, Caged. What sets Uncaged apart is its wide-body design, with meticulously shaped and blended panels that create a seamless flow from top to bottom.
The wide-body design of Uncaged required every panel to be customized to add approximately an inch to each side. Only the wheel center caps are shared with the original donor Mustang, with even signature Mustang elements like the taillight bezels and horse logo being custom pieces designed to match the new proportions. However, the customizations go beyond what meets the eye. Ringbrothers also customized the chassis and floor pans, ensuring that every aspect of the car is tailored to perfection.
In addition to the exterior modifications, Uncaged boasts an enhanced suspension system. It features Penske Racing Shocks RS Edition coilovers both in the front and rear, along with a new independent rear suspension. The 18-inch wheels from EVOD Industries pay homage to the original Mustang’s Rally wheel pattern and are wrapped in high-performance Continental tires. These wheels house Baer brakes with six-piston calipers and 14-inch rotors both at the front and rear, ensuring exceptional stopping power.
Under the hood, Uncaged is powered by Ford’s modern 5.0-liter Coyote V8 engine, which has been tuned to deliver an impressive 460 horsepower. This immense power is sent to the rear wheels through a 10-speed automatic transmission, providing an exhilarating driving experience.
Moving to the interior, the customization continues. The interior design of Uncaged was crafted by Sean Smith Designs, with leather trim expertly installed by Upholstery Unlimited. Dakota Digital gauges grace the dash, while the steering wheel, a custom design by Ringbrothers, pays homage to the original Mustang’s interior.
The creation of Uncaged was a labor of love for Ringbrothers, as it took over 4,000 hours to complete. While the exact cost is undisclosed, it undoubtedly required a significant investment. However, enthusiasts with smaller budgets are not left out, as Ringbrothers offers many of its custom parts individually. These include several billet-aluminum components, carbon-fiber or billet steering wheels, and custom side-marker light bezels.
In addition to Uncaged, Ringbrothers showcased two other exceptional custom builds at the SEMA show. One of them is a stunning 1961 Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud II, which has undergone Ringbrothers’ unique touch. The other is the Ringbrothers Tusk, a 1969 Dodge Charger that packs a jaw-dropping 1,000 horsepower.
Being a company famous for its exceptional craftsmanship, Ringbrothers consistently delivers awe-inspiring custom creations at the SEMA show. Uncaged stands as a testament to their skill and expertise, providing automotive enthusiasts with a visually striking and high-performance custom Mustang. Whether it’s the flowing wide-body design or the meticulously crafted interior, Uncaged is a true masterpiece from Ringbrothers that celebrates the timeless appeal of the iconic Ford Mustang.
