Sesame Street is teaming up with talent from the Warner Bros. Discovery neighborhood for three upcoming specials on Max. These specials will feature guest stars from Food Network and HGTV, and will have a theme of giving back. Some of Sesame Street’s most beloved characters, including Elmo, Cookie Monster, and Oscar The Grouch, will be a part of these special episodes.
According to Kay Wilson Stallings, the head of creative at Sesame Workshop, these 22-minute episodes mark the first unscripted specials where the Sesame Street characters go into the community to help children and families. The goal of these specials is to emphasize the importance of kindness, teamwork, resourcefulness, and helping others. Whether it’s holding a bake sale to raise money for a cause, transforming trash into treasure to bring attention to an animal shelter, or remodeling an underfunded theater classroom, each special will highlight different ways to make a positive impact.
The first special, titled “Cookie Monster’s Bake Sale,” will air on August 10. It will feature Cookie Monster and former NFL player and season 11 Food Network Star winner chef Eddie Jackson. In this episode, Cookie Monster will showcase his baking skills while Eddie Jackson assists him. The second special, “Oscar’s Handmade Halloween,” will air on October 19 and will see Oscar The Grouch in a rare helpful mood. He will try to help shelter dogs find homes with the help of Food Network personality Sunny Anderson.
The third special, “Elmo and Tango Holiday Helpers,” will air on December 7. This episode will have a home makeover theme similar to HGTV shows. Elmo, along with Hidden Potential host Jasmine Roth, will reimagine a classroom and transform it into a more inviting and functional space.
These specials are part of Sesame Street’s 54th season, which will premiere in November on Max. By collaborating with Warner Bros. Discovery and featuring guest stars from popular networks such as Food Network and HGTV, Sesame Street aims to engage and entertain children and families while also imparting important life lessons on kindness and helping others.
Sesame Workshop’s commitment to educational programming has been a hallmark of Sesame Street since its inception. Through the use of engaging characters and entertaining storylines, the show has proved to be an effective tool for teaching children essential skills and values. These upcoming specials continue in that tradition by showcasing the power of collaboration, resourcefulness, and empathy.
In addition to the specials, Sesame Workshop continuously develops new content and resources to support children’s learning and social-emotional development. The organization’s initiatives span various platforms, including television, digital media, books, and live experiences. Through these efforts, Sesame Workshop strives to reach children of all backgrounds and provide them with the tools they need to succeed in school and in life.
Overall, the collaboration between Sesame Street and Warner Bros. Discovery for these specials brings together beloved characters, talented guest stars, and important themes of kindness and giving back. Through these engaging and educational episodes, children and families will be entertained while also learning valuable life lessons. Sesame Street’s commitment to empowering and inspiring young minds continues to shine through in these exciting new specials.
