The release of the new version of Goosebumps proved to be perfect timing, coming out around Halloween. The series, which is based on R.L. Stine’s popular books, managed to break into the top 10 overall for the week of Oct. 16-22. The show is available on both Disney+ and Hulu and in its second week of release, it accumulated an impressive 594 million minutes of viewing. It’s worth noting that it’s a rare non-Marvel or Star Wars original series entry for Disney+. The fact that it’s available on two platforms also contributed to its success.
Nielsen initially classified Goosebumps as an acquired show the previous week, possibly due to its shared status across the two platforms. However, it was later moved to the original series category.
The Fall of the House of Usher, another popular series, maintained its No. 1 overall spot for the second consecutive week, seeing a 19% growth over its opening week with 1.47 billion minutes of viewing. Suits also continued to perform well, recording its 18th straight week with over a billion minutes of watch time, reaching 1.06 billion minutes on Netflix and Peacock.
Among the top series debuts for the week, Netflix’s British crime show, Bodies, came in second among original series with 633 million minutes of viewing. Additionally, Bill Burr’s Old Dads opened at No. 1 among movies with an impressive 728 million minutes of viewing on Netflix. Furthermore, after a rise in viewership the previous week, Loki experienced a slight decrease to 525 million minutes.
Nielsen’s streaming ratings only cover viewing on TV sets and do not include minutes watched on computers or mobile devices. Additionally, the ratings are limited to U.S. audiences and do not take into account viewers from other countries.
