Hollywood stylist Molly Dickson understands the power of fashion and how it can elevate a star’s status. With clients like Sydney Sweeney, Sadie Sink, and Camille Mendes, Dickson has helped her clients land on many best-dressed lists. Now, she is bringing her expertise to a new denim collaboration with Madewell, making it easy and affordable for anyone to attain A-list style.
The 12-piece capsule collection, dropping on Madewell.com on August 11th, takes inspiration from Dickson’s clients, with Mendes even starring in the collection’s campaign. The range includes denim wardrobe staples in on-trend oversized and low-slung designs. From baggy, straight, cargo, and wide-leg jeans to sportswear-inspired bralettes, shackets, cropped shirts, oversized overalls, and mini skirts, the collection offers a variety of pieces that embody the style of Dickson’s clients.
What sets this collection apart is the way Dickson has taken silhouettes from the ’70s and ’90s and refreshed them with edgy touches. For example, cargo pants are finished with a front buckle, baggy jeans feature cutout pockets or a two-tone double waistband, and frayed-edge shorts and pants have a crossover waist. The range also includes tank tops that are designed to be thick enough for comfortable wear without a bra.
Each piece in the collection has a story behind it. The cargo pants were inspired by Sadie Sink’s off-duty style, with Dickson finding a pair that had a front buckle and couldn’t stop talking about it. The oversized overalls were inspired by a ’70s-style silhouette that Dickson saw in a photo and wanted to make more feminine with a cinched waist. The baggy straight-leg jeans were a hit with client Kelsea Ballerini because they hit in the perfect spot to accentuate the waist. The denim with cutouts in place of pockets required some trial and error before they achieved the desired design, resulting in a style that is baggy and loose at the bottom but still sexy on top.
In the campaign for the collection, Dickson stars alongside Camille Mendes, who she styled in casual-cool looks. Mendes can be seen wearing the oversized crop shirt with low-rise baggy wide-leg jeans, as well as the double-waist denim, gray cropped tank, and dark-wash shacket. Dickson herself wears a striped rugby long-sleeved shirt with cargo pants, and overalls paired with a baggy sweater underneath and cinched with a black leather buckle.
Mendes expresses her excitement for the collection, stating, “Molly and I both share a deep love for denim, so much so that we often show up to fittings wearing the same outfit. I couldn’t be more excited for her to launch this collection. She really knocked it out of the park and I’m beyond proud of her.”
The Madewell x Molly Dickson capsule offers a range of pieces that effortlessly combine style, comfort, and affordability. From the denim bralette to the cargo jeans, oversized crop shirt, tank set, and crossover baggy jean shorts, each piece is designed to make a statement and elevate any wardrobe.
