Rocky, Ginger, and their family’s newest addition, Molly, take center stage in the battle to liberate their fellow chickens from a dangerous nugget plot in the first full trailer for “Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget.” This highly anticipated film is from the renowned Aardman animation studio and directed by Sam Fell, an Oscar- and BAFTA-nominated filmmaker. “Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget” is the sequel to the highest-grossing stop-motion animated film ever, “Chicken Run.”
In this new chapter, Ginger, voiced by Thandiwe Newton, and Rocky, voiced by Zachary Levi, have found sanctuary on an island away from the human world after their daring escape from Tweedy’s farm. Living alongside the flock, they have also welcomed their newest family member, Molly, voiced by Bella Ramsey. They are determined to put the past behind them and focus on raising Molly in a safe and nurturing environment.
However, Molly is curious about the world beyond the island, a place her parents and community fled from. This stirs up fear and concern in Ginger, who is protective of her daughter. In a pivotal scene from the trailer, a frightened Ginger tells Molly, “You’ve got everything you want right here.” To which Molly defiantly replies, “You can’t make me stay here.” This leads to Molly venturing into the human world, where she is captured by a Fun-Land Farms truck driver.
Rocky and Ginger set out on a daring mission to find and rescue Molly, eventually discovering a massive factory that seems like an amusement park from the inside, but something feels off. Molly realizes that it’s a factory farm, and her parents must now fight to save her from Mrs. Tweedy’s “nugget” ambitions. They must break into the factory to rescue Molly, facing the threat of being turned into chicken nuggets themselves.
The screenplay for “Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget” is written by Karey Kirkpatrick, John O’Farrell, and Rachel Tunnard. The star-studded cast also includes Imelda Staunton as Bunty, Lynn Ferguson as Mac, David Bradley as Fowler, Jane Horrocks as Babs, Romesh Ranganathan as Nick, Daniel Mays as Fetcher, Josie Sedgwick-Davies as Frizzle, Peter Serafinowicz as Reginald Smith, and Nick Mohammed as Dr. Fry.
