The highly anticipated DJI Air 3 drone has been the subject of rumors and leaks, with new images and specifications suggesting exciting upgrades to its camera system. Leaked images provided by reliable leaker Roland Quandt show the presence of two camera sensors mounted on the gimbal at the front of the device.
This dual-camera system is expected to offer significant improvements over the second-generation DJI Air, which features a single half-inch camera sensor capable of shooting 4K videos at 60 frames per second, as well as capturing 12- and 48-megapixel photos. With the addition of an upgraded camera system, the DJI Air 3 could potentially achieve similar capabilities to the high-end Mavic 3 drone.
The Mavic 3 currently sports two camera sensors—a main camera and a telephoto lens—but it seems unlikely that the DJI Air 3 will carry over the prestigious Hasselblad branding from the Mavic 3. Nevertheless, the inclusion of a dual-camera system in the DJI Air 3 indicates a significant step forward in terms of image and video quality.
In addition to the camera improvements, leaked images also suggest that the DJI Air 3 will come with a larger 4,242mAh battery, which is approximately 30 percent bigger than the 3,500mAh battery found in the DJI Air 2. This increase in battery capacity is expected to provide users with even longer flight times. Currently, the DJI Air 2 offers around 34 minutes of flight time, and the larger battery in the DJI Air 3 could potentially extend this time even further.
Furthermore, the leaked images reveal a new DJI RC-N2 controller, which bears a striking resemblance to the DJI RC controller released in May 2021. The new controller features two thumbsticks positioned above a large display, providing users with improved control and an enhanced user experience.
Despite the leaked images and specifications, detailed information about the DJI Air 3 remains scarce. However, an Amazon listing discovered by WinFuture indicates a possible price point for the device. According to the listing, the DJI Air 3, when bundled with the RC-N2 controller, could be priced at £962 (~$1,213 USD). Additionally, two Fly More bundles are expected to be available, offering extra batteries and other accessories. These bundles are expected to be priced at £1,199 (~$1,512 USD) with DJI’s old RC-2 controller or £1,379 (~$1,739 USD) with the new RC-N2 controller.
Excitement continues to build around the DJI Air 3 as drone enthusiasts eagerly await the official announcement and release of this highly anticipated device. With its potential camera upgrades, larger battery capacity, and improved controller, the DJI Air 3 promises to deliver an enhanced flying and photography experience for both professionals and hobbyists alike.
